Game Thread: (13/10) Lady Vols 66 - Vanderbilt 52

Where does the poster mention anyone trashing Key?

Keep working TK. You do have supporters out here even though they may not be the most vocal of the bunch.

Its the same passive/aggressive statements you like to use. Taking a little cheapshot at posters without directing it at anyone. Again, guess its just all about what you want to read into a post and that's what I see.

Why do you think this discussion about how some of us wish Key could improve her offensive game is trashing her. I don't read mine or anyone else's post here as trashing her. It always amazes me on this board how just having a BB discussion about technics comes across as Negavols or trashing a player on this site. I guess its all about how you read into something what you want it to be.
Do you people just make up this crap in your head. I said nothing to imply anything you said. If you got what you got out of what I posted, then you need to look internally at why that is the case. o_O

I agree someone took a cheap shot but it was not OM. Reading comprehension is hard. I get it, you want to reach out and slap the poster for doing the same thing as you…..expressing an opinion. TK’s supporters are not near as vocal as her few detractors. Deal with it.

There have been posters here who have attacked Tamari for eyelashes, hairdo, nails, etc. All of which is out of bounds, IMO. I think that's what OM was referring to in an umbrella overview fashion. Critiques on play style, habits, talents, lack of skills, etc. is fair game, but personal stuff just isn't.

Can I put a whole sub thread on ignore? 😜
Or they could have their own thread? Take everything super personally and bitch endlessly board on board and poster on poster there?

When I'm ready to give up on TK ever being an offensive force I remind myself of two words: Jordan Horston. I also thought development for her was at a standstill several times and look at her now. The last few games she's even shooting the 3 better. She reminds me of JJJ on the men's team and that's a big compliment. She's everywhere, doing everything. Without her, serial turnovers and all, we would have been exactly who we thought we were going to be when Rae first went down. It was a long and painful process, but it's definitely happening for JH.

I know it's late in TK's career, and there may be physical and ability limitations that JH doesn't have, but I still hold out hope for TK's development on offense. Like everyone and their Granny has said, a good start would be the 12 footer. Her shooting form looks so nice on FTs she can can those.

Sometimes folks want to put the round peg in the square hole. I don't look for TK to become the female Kareem. I want her to get better at what she does well. I want more 10 shot block games. I want to see opponents drive into the lane and then take a fetal position when TK slides over. I want TK to get 10 points a game on pick and rolls and offensive rebounds. She has shown what a defensive force she can be but she has also had some games where she has had less influence due to foul problems etc. She needs to get back into shot blocking beast mode.

I'm back off my mini vacation.now I posted Tess scored 0 pts and I got feedback saying she assisted some points and you can impact a game besides scoring.against the good teams her impact needs to be scoring with some assists not some assists with no scoring she is a wing player avg 25 to 30 minutes a game she is positioned around the 3 pt line to shoot and make 3s to open it up for teammates and the 3 pt shot is huge in basketball so a few assists and 0 pts might be an impact against Vanderbilt but it's not an impact against good teams she had 0 pts against UCONN and Stanford and some assists and trust me there was no impact in either of those games

This is perfectly elocuted.

This. TK doesn’t have to try to become the type of player she just isn’t. Most players don’t have her ability to affect the game defensively. I truly think a big issue is positioning. She’s trying to back down every player and it isn’t working, she’s going to have to move around a little and hit short jumpers to open up space for herself as well as score off outback’s. She’s started the bad habit of bringing the ball low again so that needs to change. But she can give 12-14 if she improves in those areas. She’s already improved her FT shot now she just needs to score in her limited touches. Horston and Burrell are our big time scorers with Alexus being the primary complimentary scorer to those two and Walker/Key being opportunistic scorers.

I agree. On that point, I also think the LVs'apparent emphasis on getting the ball into the paint to TK at all costs needs to be adapted. The PGs need to be aware of those situations where TK has a one-on-one match-up or mismatch in the paint and find her then. Too often, though, the guards try to force a pass into a double team or where TK has not established good position. I think this change will happen almost automatically if Rae gets back all the way. With Hortson, Burrell, and let's Puckett or Darby on the court, there is more than enough offensive threat that TK will find herself in some favorable positions.

Agree we don't need Key to score a ton (nor the PGs for that matter) but I still think TK can and should improve offensively, probably most likely in the offseason. I don't know much about the WNBA, but I wonder if she can make it if her offensive moves, her leaping ability, and ability to catch hard passes don't get significantly better.

I also agree we try way too hard and too obviously to force the ball inside to her. One good thing is most of the time TK doesn't mind running the floor and got a couple of nice transition baskets that way last game.
