Game Thread: (13/10) Lady Vols 66 - Vanderbilt 52

I agree Vanderbilt sucks a very hard team to watch

They remind me of LSU last season. The only way they can stay in games is by forcing extremely ugly play and fouling off the ball as much as they can get away with. I hate watching games like this. This style of play should be whistled out of existence.

Even given the turnovers, I think our movement in the half-court offense looks better today than it has in a while and it shows in having 9 assists on 12 field goals. They're collapsing on Key and she's doing a pretty okay job of kicking out to finding shooters (and players moving well to find openings and gaps in the zone), though we are a little 3-point happy.

We need to get on the offensive glass. That is where Alexus comes in. Only 4 offensive rebounds in the first half. If we don’t get offensive rebounds we are not a good team. We can’t makeup for the turnovers we are certain to commit at this point.

Disappointed in out offensive board play in this game. We usually get a few stick backs and should against this team.

Vandy can't shoot worse than they did that half and we aren't up all that much.

Going to have to play better in the second half.

That screen Vandy got called for was them moving more and more on each screen to see how much they can get away with. As you can see, it was a lot.

Surprisingly over the last few games Vandy only shoots 36% so we can actually replicate that half defensively.

But it’s sad because without TOs we would be dominating Vandy.

Tourney teams will eat our lunch if we play like this

What was the first foul call away from the ball on Key?
Also there was a TO, who called it? No commercial break

Striplin got in early and from what i saw she did not look good at all, I really think KJH wanted to play her more but could not. I`m sure some will have a different view, Just my opinion.

She is big and strong with a big toolbox of skills. Doesn't get rattled easily.

Her versatility is profound. She handles the ball well, can shoot deep, but also has size and can use her muscle.

She has all the makings of a Hall of Famer if she continues to improve through all 4 years.

Minus ten shots to them because of the turnovers and that is why they are staying close. We need to dominate on the offensive boards and put this game away.

South Carolina loss to Missouri.
Yep and without Blackwell their best player. Tell me something I don't know already. SC and Missouri have a pretty heated rivalry, but that was at Missouri. UT plays at SC. Do you honestly believe UT wins at South Carolina? Just stop trying to comment or quote my post when you state the obvious. I know SC lost to Missouri. SC also hasn't lost since and likely won't unless it's in the final 4 or title game.

Her D and court awareness not there yet, but experience would help.
While I like the "teamness" of Saunders, there is no reason to not play Striplin ahead of her

I`m on board Striplin needs to play i just think why not early in the season ? So she can get the reps.

I couldn’t care less about that summary… yes or no? Obviously they’ve loss before to a mediocre opponent.

That ref with the bald spot will see our players get beat up and wont call anything, it is so frustrating. Why does it seem like he is always officiating our games? (Him and The bald head guy)

I called glass on that one for Jordy! You could tell it was going in from out vantage on TV hahaha!

Much better intensity to start this half. Need to keep it up and close this out. This is a scrappy Vandy team. No need to give them a chance down the stretch. Have to remember the 4th quarter in Nashville. The game is a full 40 minutes ladies, get ‘em!

Ten points is good. Now get it to fifteen. Don't let them hustle their way back in. No hero ball, no wild shots, no out of control charges on steals. Just composed basketball.
