Game Thread: (13/10) Lady Vols 76 - Missouri 62

As far as MO “beating” SC, maybe SC should get the credit for the lost. The only way MO could win that game is for SC to play poorly. Having said that, Frank did have a very good game for MO.

Elite teams minimize their “off” games. Let’s hope UT got their “off” games done with for the season.
So, by that reasoning, we get credit for the Auburn and Florida losses, and we can say we are a better team than them 90 per cent of the time, and therefore those losses don't really count against the perception of us.

So for the more knowledgeable fans. TOs were bad in Q1 but then really improved Q2/3. Any thoughts on what changed? I feel like that has happened a couple of games recently.
A very good question. For one thing, we started using Key and other tall players to help us break the full court pressure. That helps, but doesn't explain it entirely.

So right Darth, a "GREAT WIN" over a team that beat SC and took LSU to overtime and yet another victory over a NCAA bound team as VA noted. I thought our 3rd quarter was the best of the season in that both our defense and offense was fantastic with hardly any turnovers. We're back!!
Easy there, boo…last time I felt that sentiment was when we were announced as a one seed..,

Things a fan might talk about 1) another great double double game from Jordan Horston; 2) Tess Darby nailing 4 threes plus a solid all round game; 3) after a sloppy first quarter, the LVs getting their TOs under control; 4) handling the press more effectively. 5) Alexis Dye coming back with a monster 3rd quarter after a poor 1st half. 6) Righting the SEC ship with a dominating win over a team that can be really dangerous (ask SC). 7) TK getting back to controlling the defensive block.

What fans don't do; Make dumbass snarky comments about a WIN .
Not sure blue font iz understood….

Yes, they used Key the same way against Arkansas to beat the press more times than not. The Lvs did not use her in that manner against FL to their detriment (though key did have some foul issues in that game).

Another change is that Horston took on more of the ball handling role, rather that Walker or Miles. She looked more comfortable in that role than in prior games. I still think Miles can our Shannon Bobbit type press breaker but, right now, someone she tends to dribble into double teams. She has comparable speed to Shannon but SB had unreal ball skills. She was a Harlem Globe trotters caliber dribbler. Miles tends to expose the ball and is not as shifty. If she can develop that (probably a longer term goal), pressure defenses won't be such a worry for the LVs.

awareness plays a role,,,and once Coach K referenced the "kind of turnovers",,,she acknowledged the problem and consequently became more focused on it..JMO

I also agree Mizzou is not a bad team like you said. I think teams know how to play them now and it`s starting to show. Defend the 3 force them to put the ball on the floor and pound way at the glass. Ole Miss did the same thing we did last night from i have seen from the highlights. They might not win there last 5 games. If you think about in there last 5 games who can they defend ?.

Yep, that’s what I’m thinking. They have a hard time defending without fouling and are not a deep team. They have some athletic teams left on their schedule and will struggle.

When they are hot from 3 they can all catch fire and really put up some points. They did not matchup well with us at all and it showed.

I do think they can get Arkansas they lost the first matchup by 10 on the road. Most of it was free throws and MIZZOU gets away with murder at home. Also think they can beat UGA if their shot is on. UGA has been pretty uninspired lately, especially at home for some reason.
