Ironically, +_ is a not the best measure of a single player. It actually measures how a player does in combination with the other four players on the court.
Given CKC's frequent rotation and the many different combinations she puts on the floor, an individual player's +- includes a random element. For example, maybe in that one minute period when Sam was on the bench, Jewel a couple of 3s and the team got another bucket off a TO. That would greatly inflate the +- for when she was not on the court.
This is one of the calls that bothers plus a blocking call on us that was very weak should have been a charge or no call. The refs are just terrible all around. They call games too tight it kills the flow of the game and inserts the refs way to much. Let the players decide ! Some refs just want to be seen and to show they know more than anyone else. Let the players decide and call it fairly. After video review, they also called a flagrant on the Ole Miss player for contact after Sam's foul (which I agree was a weak call).
My impression is that these officials along with others are allowing much more physical play this season. Lots of players going to the floor during the game.
The poor refs. Cannot win. Too much or too little? The refs are just terrible all around. They call games too tight it kills the flow of the game and inserts the refs way to much. Let the players decide !

Who's talking about flops? I'm saying they are going to the floor because they are knocked there and fouls are not being called....on both sides. I'm not dissing the officiating either. The poor refs. Cannot win. Too much or too little?
As far as players going to the floor, there's a sh*t ton of flopping and flailing going on this year. At least half of the "falls" are flops and pleas for an and one. That's an area I wish they'd really crack down on. The poor refs are struggling enough wo players actively trying to fool them.
The other key was points off of turnovers. LVs won that 24 to 4 despite committing 1 more turnover. Coach Kim said that has been a focus lately is to not lose focus after a mistake but to double down with effort. Clearly this is working. I love this philosophy and her getting buy in with players. In previous years, the points off of turnovers was a major factor in our losses. It is amazing to have one of our worst games this year for turnovers and still have a 20 point advantage on this stat.Mississippi put up more shots than the LVs 64 to 61; had more rebounds 40 to 33 with every one of that +7 being on the offensive end; had more steals 11 to 10; had fewer turnovers 19 to 20; had 8 3pt shots to our 6 and a better percentage 42% to our 40%. The margins are close, but Coach Caldwell's system did not result in the normal statistical advantages in those areas. I am not being critical. I am excited that they won a game against a quality opponent by 9pts in spite of that. The key stat was the LVs making 57% of their 2 pt shots compared to Missussippi's 33%. That won the game. 18 fouls were called on them and 19 on us, however that led to a lot more free throw attempts for them. We must have been called for a lot of shooting fouls.
The one that got me was a foul Coop when she made a nice block on an Ole Miss. she was straight with ideal vertical position and just took the ball from a smaller player going for a shot. That play could have been a momentum changer but Ole Miss did not take advantage. This is one of the calls that bothers plus a blocking call on us that was very weak should have been a charge or no call. The refs are just terrible all around. They call games too tight it kills the flow of the game and inserts the refs way to much. Let the players decide ! Does anyone know where the complete game substitution log is kept? The live stats only shows the last substitutions. I'm wondering what that log looks like beside a traditional substitution log.
I agree. And, that led to some layups which is probably one of the reasons the shooting percentage on 2 pt attempts was so high. The other key was points off of turnovers. LVs won that 24 to 4 despite committing 1 more turnover. Coach Kim said that has been a focus lately is to not lose focus after a mistake but to double down with effort. Clearly this is working. Yep. Shooting percentage. That's why Pat and Chamique didn't get that 4th one. Chamique couldn't throw it in the ocean that day.Same reason we beat UConn, and in reverse the reason we lost some games. And the stat that will dictate how we do in the touneys. For all the fancy systems and analytics, putting the ball in the basket is all that really matters.
Fortunately, the LVs have shot well lately. Sure hope it holds.
the blatant use of the push-off from the ballhandlers is what upsets me,,,the defender can only (legally) touch the defender with the extended hand,,,while the BHer can swipe a hand or body all the way down the court...That and the 180 degree dribble chaps my arseMy impression is that these officials along with others are allowing much more physical play this season. Lots of players going to the floor during the game.

Spear has been solid, now Zee is playing on a different level than the first half of the year. Her game has made a big impact on on the team in the post area. We need 1 more strong post defender that rebounds well for next year. Latham has a chance if she can improve like Zee has this year. Got to cut down on the fouls.Shout out to Jewell Spear and Zee Spearman! Two of my favorites! Fear Da SPEAR!!!!
Thanks, perfect. Is there a link?Maybe this will help you out: 121 Substitutions

No,,,I do it by going to "live stats",,,setting the tab on "play by play",,,filter teams to TN ...filter plays to "substitutions",,,then go to each period and cut and paste the data in to a spreadsheet, where I can manipulate the dataThanks, perfect. Is there a link?
I becoming a big time fan of OKOT from Mississippi state woundnt mind her at all, looking at nunu agara from stanford those 2 i take in a heartbeat and of course Cunningham from arizona but i prefer somebody who has played in the conference and dont have to get used to the physicality......Spear has been solid, now Zee is playing on a different level than the first half of the year. Her game has made a big impact on on the team in the post area. We need 1 more strong post defender that rebounds well for next year. Latham has a chance if she can improve like Zee has this year. Got to cut down on the fouls.
I noticed that aberration as well and it did concern me.Mississippi put up more shots than the LVs 64 to 61; had more rebounds 40 to 33 with every one of that +7 being on the offensive end; had more steals 11 to 10; had fewer turnovers 19 to 20; had 8 3pt shots to our 6 and a better percentage 42% to our 40%.

We need more shots, more rebounds and fewer TOs than our opponents because we won’t always shoot lights out. I wish Cora would ask CKC about those stats from Ole Miss game.
