Game Thread: (16/19) Lady Vols at (6/5) Texas A&M

I completely disagree. Davis and Burrell stepped up big and played with confidence. TAMU hit big shots (smart subbing by Gary Blair to bring Pitts in at the times he did) and the free throw disparity speaks for itself.
Two or three players don’t win in this league pal! Need whole team nowadays.

It really is insulting for the refs to act this way.

You take your team out in the middle of a pandemic, and jump through all of the hoops to get there and play, only to have them not be allowed to have any say in the outcome of the game.

What is the point?

Just let everyone stay home and give A&M 34 free throws and us 15, total them up, and declare a winner.

For the love of all things, why don’t we run clear outs for the post. You have the post going against her man, the corner defender, and the side key defender. Please give these girls room to work.

I think the thing with this schedule coming up besides the opponents is the missed practice time to address things.

would love to have more than a day to prepare for SC...also don’t want our ladies to break down due to all the quick turn arounds

If TN is a professional club I immediately trade Horston.

It's frustrating as she is a great looking player with good height and D, but you gotta hit 2-3 drives for baskets in every game and get a couple of foul shots

All about point guard play no one to run the team. No one that can score from that position. Were basically playing 4 on 5.
You would think by now they would have a solution though. Point guard play hasn’t been good all season it’s just been decent against lesser teams.

Obviously. Key also had a double-double with 10 points 10 boards, KK with 8 points 10 boards, Marta hit 2 big 3's, including a cold-blooded one to tie it at the end of the first half. We had almost as many offensive rebounds as they had defensive - 17 to 24 - and Johnson and Jones are no joke inside. Hortson's continued poor shooting really hurts but her A:TO ratio has been improving and was 7:3 today.

You said there's no killer instinct but I don't think that was our problem. My point is that the aggression was there and though they couldn't quite put it together against the #6 team in the country on the road, I'm proud of the way the team played.

I have to say that I would have probably replaced our PG with Darby. Or put her in and let Davis run the point.

At least there would be some energy, moving feet, shooting ability, good decision-making, and desire to win in the game. Those attributes were sorely lacking from one player in particular.

There comes a time when a coach has to decide when they've seen enough lackluster, careless, undisciplined efforts. It's annoying even when a player is producing overall; it's infuriating when the net effect is negative and detrimental to the team's chances for success.

I’m sick of the floaters. Develop a jump shot or drive to the basket! Oh, I forgot. When she drives she always charges into defenders. Solutions anyone?

Fouls and whatever i think the serious problem for this team is the point guard position. Yes we could use a four inside as well how many wide open unguarded layups can KK miss. To her credit she made a few today.

Positives

The bigs played well.

Both of them rebounded the ball and won their matchup. Held their bigs in check.

Rennia had a great game back getting rid of any doubts about her readiness.

We played well against a tough team, on the road.
They need a good nights sleep....the trail leads up hill from here....

Same, we played well. They’re a very tough team. They aren’t easily rattled either.

Like Marta, but she is painful to watch sometimes!!

Why did we have Marta posting up in the second half? Those dribble behind the back spin moves don’t work on the block. Why don’t we have something drawn up to end the half? We gotta be 1-24 end of quarter situations and that one came from the Marta shot today.
