Did you know... If you take Saunders career stats and project them to a 40 minute per game average, she would average a double double.

Fine Print
I know no one plays 40 min per game and certainly not a post.
I know most of this has been against weaker comp.

Still, with Green out, I think we need Saunders to step up and give us 5-10 minutes on defense, especially against SC and anyone else with height. Get in there, girl, rebound, defend, and set screens. The small ball lineup got destroyed against UGA. We can play small ball around Key or Saunders but we need a rim protector at all times.

Lyn Rollins (play-by-play) and Auburn women's hoops coaching legend Joe Ciampi (analyst) will have the call for the SECN+ live stream. I listened to Joe during. the Ky contest. I thought he was a much better coach than commentator. His trap defense was as good as there was during his era (late 80's).

Also, I’m not counting UCONN out.. we will need Emily and Karoline both to have stepped into their new roles. The same way Tess had to step up and be able to play a different role.. time for the posts to do the same. TK also will have to take this to heart and truly own the Post moving forward. They’re capable and I’m sure they know they are. Let’s go ladies.

This is our last later game not as late as Vandy but still later than our normal night starting time. Hoping we can make a better showing on the road with the UConn game coming up. Haven't been offensive rebounding on the road like we did early in the season and are giving up way more offensive rebounds than we were. Seems to just be happening on the road still dominating this stat at home. Lost a key player so more energy tonight in our overall game. Auburn should really be a team that we demolish on the boards as well as score a lot more inside. Get this road win will be five SEC road win with only Florida, Alabama, and SC left on the road. Next game we play a rematch with Arkansas at home then it is back on the road to Florida and the UConn non conference road game. If we can keep winning through all this our next four of six SEC games are at home.

I have a hunch making our free throws will now be even more important; can't shoot 62% on freebies. ES and KS are still young & "(not) Green" and we could see even more fouls called on our posts. Refs have a tendency to call them on the younguns

At Florida before at UConn looking like the classic trap game. Team will have to keep focus.

Darn! Yesterday was a 22-hour day with 3 hours sleep last night. I know by tip-off this carcass will be practicing for its next career as a medical cadaver.

Look forward to reading in the morning what y'all write about the game, and finding video of some freshman highlights!
GLV!

Exactly. Gotta keep in mind that Auburn beat Ga.Tech (who beat CT), and it took an overtime flurry by Missouri (who beat SC) to beat Auburn. I don't care WHAT their SEC record is. They've shown they can bow up and compete. Tennessee can not take ANYone for granted.

True. I was actually talking about Florida being a trap game, but, you’re right, we can’t relax against any team.

I am wondering if the players will be trying to get the ball to the post players who are not Tamari. Sara, Emily, and Karoline need that practice, but it will be a temptation for the outside players to try to do it all themselves. Gotta help everyone on the floor be productive.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

I was just thinking about how, if things are going relatively well earlyon, that Kellie might just pull Key way early and leave the game totally in Em and Karo's hands. They both need as many minutes as can possibly be managed.

I'm really excited for those two. Nervous for them too, though, because neither of them have ever experienced this type of pressure. In high school they had pressures, I'm sure, but I don't think either of them have had experienced being (small) role players who were suddenly thrust into performing lead. It's such a different kind of pressure. Of course, no one in their right minds is going to be expecting them to seamlessly replace 6th-year veteran leader immediately and without hiccups. They are likely to look a bit lost here and there, and maybe miss a defensive assignment now and then. But they'll get more and more comfortable and confident as the minutes pile up. 😃
