A little snow wasn’t stopping our fansGotta love it! Can’t wait to see them play @UA and @AU! View attachment 428764

Well, Jon Harper is a terrific assistant coach.
Our posts are doing better since he was moved off of coaching them. Now that he’s coaching the guards he will need to prove he’s a good guard coach and put a quick end to opposing coaches using the press to hurt us. We’ve escaped losing because of the pressure on our guards, but we may not always be so fortunate.
Get ‘er done, Jon!
Sure. Jon was a guard when he played in college, so he’s never been a post coach per say.Our posts are doing better since he was moved off of coaching them. How do you know they feel they "need to hire their husbands in order to make their lives work"? That seems like a very sexist assumption to me. And so negative. Since, as you say, so many women coaches are doing it could it be they want (not need) to work with their husbands and it works out for their lives? The Harpers have been doing it for years. You sure it's because of some "need" you wish Kellie could get rid of?I’ll get flack for this, but I absolutely HATE that so many women head coaches end up feeling like they need to hire their husbands in order to make their lives work.
If true, all hail Jon. And also to the post coach! From what I can tell I think Jon is primarily in charge of defense. Joy works with the bigs and Sam is the guards coach. Kellie fits in all over.
I notice Jon calling defensive plays a lot this season.

The husband and wife thing seemed to work for TN softball. How do you know they feel they "need to hire their husbands in order to make their lives work"? Or, the man has to "keep the family unit working well" by working under his wife instead of going out getting a head coaching job of his own? You don't know that doing so wasn't a joint decision either. You assume the wife is making a sacrifice but that's not necessarily true.it’s always the WOMEN who have to “keep the family unit working well,” they don’t always feel free to NOT hire their husband.
…great conversation starter! So was he the best person to hire for that position then? It sorta gets back to my original point of female coaches too often giving a hire to their spouse when maybe a specialist position coach might have been better.
I like Jon and am happy to have the entire family. My main point in even bringing it up is that I have noticed many, many men getting jobs coaching under their wives. And I often wonder if there might be better choices for filling those positions, but because it’s always the WOMEN who have to “keep the family unit working well,” they don’t always feel free to NOT hire their husband.
