Game Thread: #5 Tennessee (19-11, 10-6 SEC) vs #1 South Carolina (30-0, 16-0 SEC) Saturday 3/9/24 ~4:30 pm ET (ESPNU)

Oh how I wish you would.

Sara was fouling, refs swallowed whistles. What an irony.

You people are just sick. You actually enjoy this? Go eff yourselves, collectively and individually.

And btw, for the Rickea hates Kellie crowd, did you notice her giving Kellie a shoulder squeeze as she left the presser?
Same ref who blew Sara before halftime when side replay showed no contact. And also called foul with 1.1 seconds. He spent 5 minutes at table reviewing g film. On a last second shot with 1.1 NO review. Horrible officiating

Actually Kellie tenderly blamed Rickea more in the presser. Said they told TK to guard the paint against a lob. Said they were yelling for Rickea to go get Kamilla. But she was guarding Raven, who had made the pass, and just didn't react quickly enough. But I don't think she could have gotten there anyway. Also, clearly, TK wasn't watching the ball and definitely couldn't have reacted quickly enough. Not guarding the inbounds pass seems like a bad decision. KJH also said they didn't call timeout bc SC didn't have one and they didn't want them to set up a play. That makes sense.

But guys, all this covers some for poor JP, who will live w those two missed free throws the rest of her life.
She’ll have a few more shots at redemption. …igbok 👌

There is no lob if Kamilla is 20 feet from the basket. That’s called game IQ

Cardoso has probably never made a 3 in a competitive basketball game in her life. I’m not mad about that shot. I’m mad about the 6th year senior point guard throwing up two bricks at the free throw line that would’ve made that shot irrelevant.
First of her career, my understanding is she's never taken one. Just effing painful as it gets.

Biggest lesson here is in a last second, no timeout situation, keep one eye 👁️ and one ear on the opposing coach.

And if you're going to leave someone wide open, take a page from Michael Jordan and yell "shoot it, you [censored] midget."

Now I know what you're thinking. "But Voltopia, they're not a midget." That's true, but they'll either bust out laughing or waste the 1.1 seconds puzzling over why they were called a midget when clearly they're not and OH NO THE BUZZER.

The perfect plan.

Lol. Holly ACTUALLY gave her more hell than Kellie. I can recall Holly beating Dawn at least three times when she was HC.
You're kidding right? When Holly gave them hell and it wasn't very much hell she had five star athletes from 1-7 and still couldn't win on a regular basis. Holly was the worst head coach I've seen in women's basketball in a long time and that's in multiple divisions.

For those of us with game time memories, it's never one play that beats you. Every missed free throw, every box out missed resulting in any easy weak side stick back, every turnover resulting in a lost possession, every turnover resulting in giving up a transition layup, every loose ball hesitation allowing other team to recover, every foul resulting in three points play...the list is lengthy. And practically everyone who played committed at least one of those errors, most which were enough th account for the final difference. So it was a team loss if blame is being assessed and assigned.

Easier to swallow if you believe in Providence. It looked as though it was meant to be a legendary, improbable comeback. As it stands, it was meant to be a painful, disappointing loss from which to learn. Strength from adversity.

Everyone will survive, the sun will come up tomorrow (a little later). Hope this makes the team closer and stronger.

And Kellie just said; "hold my beer".

Or just bend over and moon them.

Bad coaches don’t go to multiple E8.

When they have the players they do. Put diamond deshield, Mercedes Russell, and Jamie nard on the same team. I don't care what coach you got. Those are three players that are still making WNBA rosters. Then you had five star players still being the role players.
