Game Thread: #5 Tennessee (19-11, 10-6 SEC) vs #1 South Carolina (30-0, 16-0 SEC) Saturday 3/9/24 ~4:30 pm ET (ESPNU)

I believe the phrase is”I’d let her take that shot all day.” Can you imagine if we had covered Cardoso who throws it to a three point shooter who hits the winning shot. Every post would be why were we guarding Cardoso!
with a foul to give and 3.7 you match up with everyone on the floor and give em hug and make them do it alll over again with no timeouts

And now ESPN and social media is flooded with "MUST-SEE BUZZER BEATER" videos and articles. The hits just keep on coming. This is gonna haunt the Tennessee program for years.
Yes...as hard as this season has been, the victory [ imo ] would have been so fulfilling, heading into the "big dance"...Uuuuuugh! Come on ladies, please stay strong 🙏 💪 LVFL 🧡💙🏀💙🧡

It doesn’t matter who it was that was left open. Doesn’t matter what her career 3 point shooting is. You just don’t do that crap with the game on the line. Somebody needed to be at least 3 feet from her to put some kind of pressure on the situation. It would’ve been an easier loss to take if it was even somewhat contested.
And at you could they where guarding her

So, she drawled up a play for someone who has never taken a 3 pointer in college ball, and I supposed she told her its Saturday, but the Banks are open. So do you're 3 bankie, Yep, that Dawn she knows how to pull them out of her Una
Pretty clear she set that play up based on the twit vid. Poor court awareness not paying attention to Staley’s last moment instructions… we didn’t react.

Losing teams find ways to lose, and winning teams fond ways to win (even if it's blind luck).
This x 1000. You can bet that the Kellie fans will take this “effort” and run with it. Good teams don’t win big games. The Lady Vols deserve better.

Well, my last post on this thread is, girls went toe to toe with the # 1 undefeated team on a neutral floor in that team's home state. That team had to have 2 missed FTs & a lucky banked in 3 pointer with no time left to beat you. So, I hope the girls regroup and realize they can play with and beat all comers, on to the tournament, hold your heads high. GBO

Because the odds are a million to 1 that a 6'7" big standing 28 feet from the basket is going to win the game. The other four SC players
can tie or win the game. And odds are, they are going to try and throw the ball to someone close to the basket. So our defense was understandable. It would be like SC leaving Key open 28 feet from the basket. Powell blew the game--and Spear's foul was not what we should have done there. Powell tried to relieve the pressure on her free-throws by shooting them quickly--exactly what you shouldn't do. You can't miss 2 FTS there--you just can't.
And you cannot leave the inbound pass unguarded for a wide open 3 attempt, no matter who the player is...If you are not going to guard the inbound pass, at least guard the player...we chose to do neither and lost to a lucky shot, which always happens when you least expect it...Gotta defend against something, especially when the game is on the line...LVFL 🧡

Loss hurts like hell we was right there so close but I knew when jp missed that free throw it was gone bite us..I would’ve liked for key to come closer but at the same time we know Kamilla doesn’t shoot 3’s so it was a gamble just sucks just really really sucks to lose but especially by 1 point

We will now get to hear about and see that shot until the NCAA tournament is over or South Carolina loses. They will show it every other play. That’s the shot of March so far. Lovely.
Chin up. All air time is good air time. Couldn’t have produced a better five second commercial to stay in the minds of recruits. Definitely will be in the conversation tomorrow as the team no one wants to face and numerous lower seed fan bases will be bit€hin’ about the LVs being in their region.

Wow, I did not expect Tennessee to come back after that first quarter. At their best, they are as good as anyone. It's mind boggling how they lost so many games this year.

That last play...they played it like it was a formality and had already won the game. Even when the shot left Kamilla's hands, it looked like they were about ready to celebrate. Brain fart on the players and coaches.

They will be pretty dangerous in the tournament. I don't know if they will be a #8 or if this moved them up to a #7, but they could very well take out a higher seed on the road.

I know it won't happen, but I would love them to get the #8 seed in South Carolina's bracket and face them again in the second round.
