Game Thread: (7/7) Lady Vols 56 - (10/9) Connecticut 75

From the waaay over the top biased Fox announcers to the home cooking, I knew this was a big challenge for the Lady Vols. Pat profited from these big games sending a message that if you want it you have to work for it. We have a lot of work to do. Those easy wins are in the rear view mirror. Now we are in the big girls game. We can do it. Let's see what Kellie can put together with what is left.
The players have no knowledge of what the commentators say. And UConn had 4 players with 2 fouls each at the half.

uconn was whistled for three more fouls than us! Problem is ONLY Horston came to play!!!! Except for luck, we'd have had a 4 game losing streak?? We barely got by Arkansas??
Key, Darby and Dye were the only no shows. As bad as Burrell and Walker played, they were fighting hard. They just played like crap. The effort was definitely there.

When you say “they”, who are you referring to?

The Top 5 classes who came in during the last few years of the previous staff's tenure who then proceeded to set all kinds of abysmal records and only qualified for the Tournament as a charity case.

Or did you forget that you were talking about recruiting?

way worse before this in the HW era we not sweating getting in the tourney with no top 25 wins...

Not even close but this team is NOT elite and that's because they r not committed to being elite.
Not recruiting to be elite..Wonder if this opens Pissott eyes???

[Sadly to say] within the trend of how the team's performance has looked since Keyen injury, I'm not surprised by the score of today's game...4 wks ago, I remember analyzing at how both teams were playing and was thinking the LV's would win easily by double digits over Uconn...WOW how far they have come and we have dropped...I really didn't think Keyen Green was the X-factor, but I'm starting to think differently now...What a shame [NOT giving up] but what a shame...C'mon LVFL 🧡🏀🧡

I do have to give credit to Azzi Fudd. That girl can shoot. That is the sweetest looking jump shot I've seen this year.
Yes!!! Remember when some geniuses here were claiming Fudd would transfer from uconn and gino??? Well, those pseudo-Einsteins got it all backwards!! FUDD won the game for them and torched us today??? We need to worry about our own team and how we're so lost lately on the court????? We knew you had to guard Fudd at the 3 point line, but.....................................?????? Credit to Horston for playing hard, but ............???

Why, you'd almost think she was the #1 recruit!

Amazing how the CONN staff has taught that poor girl to shoot the ball...all while she sat on the bench injured!

Magic & wizardy!

When we finish blaming the refs—who called UC for far more fouls than their average—
and ESPN, and the hapless NCAA, maybe we can notice that we didn't shoot worth a damn, our rebounding was not so hot, and Fudd was 7/9 from three point land.

One bad game with the season we are having and some of you are trashing the coach and saying the players do not deserve to wear the uniform? Unbelievable fragility.

These ladies have been representing UT well all year.
agree that have represented UT well all year.... but disagree that it is just one bad game.... Florida and Aubirn are not good teams.... and Conn missing key pieces to its team a bad showing today

I think the team played above its talent level for the first 19 games. It’s like missing Rae banded them together. I wonder if they are pressing trying to get Rae back in the flow. I know she came back game 12 or so but they aren’t clicking as a team currently.

It's not just one bad game though. They've looked awful in the last 3 out of 4.

You mean there's some truth to recruiting rankings? From reading here, I thought Kellie was such an amazing coach that she could take any 3-star player and turn her into an AA. I had no idea that some players come into college that way already!

She has a quick release as well, but she did not have to show it since she was wide open most of the time.
Those last three she hit...she was so wide open she had time to finish braiding her hair before she let them fly. Tenn knew she was the gunner. No idea why someone wasn't on her hip the whole time.

They should also have gone right at her when she had 2 fouls, esp Burrell or Horston. She's not a good defender.

Truth. It's been true all along. People don't like admitting it for some reason, but the very top of the recruiting mountain is where you're likely to find the game changers. No, it's not a given, no it's not automatic, but the odds go up significantly. The talent pool in this game is smaller. You look at teams who win national titles, they usually have 1-2 top 10 recruits, or more, playing in their lineup. And the #1 ranked recruit almost always wins a title before they're gone. That's not a coincidence. I just hope Tennessee can find a way to crack that door open, because they need it. Desperately.
