Game Thread: (7/7) Lady Vols 56 - (10/9) Connecticut 75

Some times this sounds like Horston. Really not good when two upperclass players like Burrell and Horston turn the ball over this much.

Horston ALWAYS s**** the bed against UConn, and pretty much single-handedly lost the game last year. I'm not expecting that to change tomorrow.

UConn is having a "down" season, while Kellie has what most have touted her best team ever and yet I still have no faith she will pull out a win. Geno is the master at exploiting weaknesses and the book is clearly out on Tennessee. I don't think UConn even has to play that well to win. Just sit back, watch the pucker factor take over for the Lady Vols when it comes to UConn, and Horston and co. will self-destruct for them as usual...

Lady Vols need to stop Buechers and Westbrook tomorrow to have a shot at winning.

Beuckers is out hurt. Fudd is back and has the green light to shoot any time she is open. Westbrook lost her starting position to Muhl and Ducharme.

TN can't overlook defending Fudd. She is just now becoming a factor for UCONN.

Actually I would put Horston on Muhl. Muhl is a mediocre offensive threat. And Horston tends to get distracted from her man when the ball is going the other way. Ducharme and Fudd are both in perpetual motion and if Horston is guarding one of them there is the chance that they will get free. Horston leaving Muhl to float defense is a low risk high reward option. Dye on Williams who likes to go to the hoop where Dye's height will be an advantage. Have Walker keep the still too passive Fudd from getting the ball. ONO works from the high post drawing Key out so the problem is going to be that Burrell/ Darby will be a mismatch down low on Juhaz/Edwards.

My other option is Darby/Burrell on Muhl leaving Horston to cover Juhaz/Edwards with her superior athleticism. Either way whoever has Ducharme or Fudd has to be disciplined or UConn will reverse and someone will have an open 3.

In other UConn news. Paige has her brace off but is only watching practice. She will meet with doctors on Monday to determine he path ahead.
So you have 5’6” Walker guarding 6’2” Ducharme, since Fudd does not start. And Horston guarding UConn’s shortest and worst offensive player, not happening.

This has got to be one of the more funnier (but true) things i've seen today

I think this may be an indication that this will be Taurasi’s final season. She’s being given the ultimate send-off: A highly likely championship.

I can see Diana keeping the whole “final season” thing within her family of close friends and associates.

I also believe it’s likely a film team is already following her and the Mercury closely, documenting this “perfect ending to a career” season for a film that will get nearly as much attention as those docs shot about Kobe and MJ.

This game is basically Uconn’s well rested 5 star players who had the last 3 days to specially prepare for the Tennessee game, who will be playing on one of their own courts, in front of their own fans, against what was an overachieving Tennessee team, but now is on the road, and struggling.

On paper, and seeing the way we played in our loss to Florida, how can anyone expect us to win this game? Still, we can win this game. Somehow we have to play hard from the beginning of the game to the end, and even then, pour on more steam in the fourth quarter. Wanting the win more than the other team makes up for a lot of on paper predictions.

Sports is all about unexpected miracle wins, anything can happen if you never quit. It’s time Tennessee beats UConn.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

Makes me wonder how often Kellie mentions Neyland’s Maxims. I know Pat had her list also.

A noon start? Dumb--not good for players, who normally don't practice or play games that early in the day. Players have daily routines and get accustomed to them. When you get these games that start at dumb times, it can throw players and teams off--as true for UConn as for us.
shows what fox really thinks of WBB. The game deserves a better time slot. It's not like it's a last minute thrown together game. They.ve had a whole year.

Yeah that's out of whack. But Ducharme is sneaky and you've got to have someone disciplined on her. Should be Burrell.

Its literally the first noon non NFL prime time Sunday slot in months? What could be more prime time for a sporting event? They know exactly what they are doing.

Does Chicago have a shot at repeating? Where do the Aces fit in the puzzle?
Chicago picked up Emma Meeseman. If they can sign the married couple, that gives a starting lineup of Vandersloot, Quigley, Copper, Meeseman and Parker. Hopefully this means Emma is actually going to play and she's not just stringing Chicago along.

Not sold on the Aces. It seems that Wilson and Cambage cannot coexist together. They need to ditch Cambage for a PF that can give Wilson room to operate. Jackie Young also has to give them more consistency and deep threat from the wing and not disappear from games so much.

yup 9:00 am in Cali
Of Course. If you’re not used to settling in for the first Sunday NFL broadcast I could see the perspective that the slot could be better.
Had to check myself. That will be an hour earlier than the Usual NFL Sunday kick offs!

“It seems that (any other living human being) and Cambage cannot coexist together” works, too. 😢

I worry abou Liz. Her struggles with mental health are well documented, and opportunities for her to earn money off of her basketball skills are going to get fewer and fewer with every passing year and every passing explosive episode. I worry about a crash in the future if she’s not able to get it together soon.

I'm having a hard time determining if she actually has mental health issues, or she's just a sh1tty person who uses that as a cover so she can't get called out on it. I vote for the latter 🤷‍♂️
