Horston ALWAYS s**** the bed against UConn, and pretty much single-handedly lost the game last year. I'm not expecting that to change tomorrow.
UConn is having a "down" season, while Kellie has what most have touted her best team ever and yet I still have no faith she will pull out a win. Geno is the master at exploiting weaknesses and the book is clearly out on Tennessee. I don't think UConn even has to play that well to win. Just sit back, watch the pucker factor take over for the Lady Vols when it comes to UConn, and Horston and co. will self-destruct for them as usual...
Tennessee has played three consecutive bad games, including two horrifically bad games.
Tennessee 50
UConn 73
Unfortunately, this predicted score will come true. The Lady Vols have lost their toughness. I am not very confident they can get it back.

My thinking is how does Rae fit in to this team at this point. She has not been herself or at least the player she was as a junior since her return. Her return also, at least to me, seems to have upset team chemistry. I am glad we have her but the role she needs to play needs to be defined. I am seeing way to much of the present role she is playing as being ineffective to winning. I would like to see more perimeter shooting from her and less driving to the basket until she gets her game under control. Hopefully coaches have discussed with all the players the ineffective one on one play that has been going on. Finally to much standing not coming to meet the ball hander forcing them into awkward passes or picking up the dribble. Get some movement and help don't force players into bad mistakes because you stood there and watched them.
Horston is shooting 37% in fg's and 22.9% from 3 point range.Excellent observations 2012. Several of Walker and Miles turnovers at Florida were the result of our two wing players' positioning. If the defensive player has a better angle to steal the pass than we do to catch it...then our spacing is not good.
As others have pointed out in this thread, Florida was not a good match up for us, at the point and shooting guard positions. Especially, after Horston got her third foul early in the third quarter. The game got away from us when Horston came out. Horston's size hides a lot of our guard's deficiencies.
(In my opinion) Horston is key to winning the UCONN game. She is so unique with her size and athletic ability. It appears she can get to the rim anytime she wants. I wish she was more selfish. A lot of her turnovers are the result of trying to get Key involved. Take the shot. Let Key get her points off of putbacks.
From a matchup standpoint I like our chances.

I don't know how many more shots you want her to take.
…clarity. Pass it out to Tess or Rae or Rennie for the three.Specifically, if UCONN is playing Man to Man and Horston can beat her defenser off the dribble, I want her to take it to the rim or pull up for a 6 to 8 foot jump shot on every possession (that she beats her defender).
Horston's game is not three point shooting but she should take 2 to 3 a game to keep the defense honest. Subtract her poor numbers on shooting 3's and her 2 point shooting goes above 40%+. I'll take that all day long. What hurts us (sometimes) is Horston beats her defender and then tries to make a difficult pass to Key (who is doubled and tripled teamed) and we get a turnover instead of a shot.
If Horston beats her defender, Key's role should be to screen and box out and not worry about catching a difficult pass.
No way Kellie leaves Tess Darby to guard Aliyah Edwards. That might be your dream and wish, but no way it’ll happen. If it does, we’re in big trouble as a program.Actually I would put Horston on Muhl. Muhl is a mediocre offensive threat. And Horston tends to get distracted from her man when the ball is going the other way. Ducharme and Fudd are both in perpetual motion and if Horston is guarding one of them there is the chance that they will get free. Horston leaving Muhl to float defense is a low risk high reward option. Dye on Williams who likes to go to the hoop where Dye's height will be an advantage. Have Walker keep the still too passive Fudd from getting the ball. ONO works from the high post drawing Key out so the problem is going to be that Burrell/ Darby will be a mismatch down low on Juhaz/Edwards.
My other option is Darby/Burrell on Muhl leaving Horston to cover Juhaz/Edwards with her superior athleticism. Either way whoever has Ducharme or Fudd has to be disciplined or UConn will reverse and someone will have an open 3.
In other UConn news. Paige has her brace off but is only watching practice. She will meet with doctors on Monday to determine he path ahead.
UConn is loaded. Don’t let the hype fool ya! Horston is not the player she was a season ago. She played horribly on Thursday, but that kid has really grown and without her we’re mediocre at best.Horston ALWAYS s**** the bed against UConn, and pretty much single-handedly lost the game last year.
