Game Thread: (7/9) Lady Vols 62 - Alabama 44

Oh, yes, Dak. I remember Tameka Johnson extremely well because she torched us on numerous occasions. Tameka and Brooklynn handle the ball similarly, but Brooklynn will need to continue to develop her outside shooting game to have exactly all the weapons Johnson had.

She’ll eventually score more (I hope), but I think we’d all agree that for now we need her more for running point and defense than we do for scoring. If she ever does become a TJ-level scorer Tennessee will be adding some trophies to the case.
As a LSU fan, she was my all time favorite. TJ was under the radar at first, I think perhaps even missing her Freshman year and the suddenly playing in December of what I think was her Sophomore year. At first, I would look at the box score and think who is this player I have never heard of making 8 to 10 assists a game and just 0 or 1 turnover. I just knew she had to be special. I get some similarities between Miles and TJ, and while Miles is not close to that level yet she is just starting her Freshman year so she sure has potential. She is already looking more comfortable on offense than she did a month ago!!

She openly admitted on Instagram that she was very nervous. I’m sure it’s hard to call the game when you’re so close to the program as well. She’s only been out two years. Some of her teammates were playing! I’m certain it would lose my train of thought watching the game and forgetting I’m on the call 😂😂
Happy for Kamera, great first game! Very poised! Great to see another LVFL calling games.

One of my favorite things about this program is that it develops wonderful young women. Whole, confident and ready to give back. Has always been that way. Pat, Holly and now Kellie. That is a legacy that will continue to imprint on the women’s game for the rest of time.

You just don’t see it with other programs, sure, they have some high profile players. But it’s the stars. The rest fade. Everywhere you look in women’s basketball you see a Lady Vol reaching out to uplift someone else.

Could just be my orange colored glasses, but to me, the impact is apparent and I will always support it.
