Game Thread: (7/9) Lady Vols 63 - (3/3) Stanford 74

And we are getting out rebounded due to lack of size we have a 6-4 forward/center on the bench sure she is a freshmen but can rebound at least

Stanford is 50% from the floor, 50% from 3, and 80% from the free throw line. That's textbook. Almost all of their players have scored, many of them with 4-6 points, and their leading scorer only has 11 points. Let's call this what it is: a very well-coached basketball team that puts its players in position to execute, and they are finding a lot of opportunities to execute against Tennessee right now. The particular player hasn't mattered too greatly. They're doing it as a team. They know what to do, and when to do it.

This isn't to just take Tennessee at 9-0 and toss them out or anything. I'm just saying all the little problems and tendencies Tennessee has shown this year, those things are opportunities for Stanford to find baskets, and they're doing so as a team. There's a lot for Tennessee to take from this first half, and a lot to learn. The whole program has to own all these first halves shooting 20-25% from the floor, for one. That's just medieval.

What a joke the Lady Vol program has become. Will be interesting to see how the new AD handles this over the next couple of years.

Every time they show her face after a play she’s grimacing in obvious pain. Seems like her foot hurts
I'll have to look closer. However, if that's true, she shouldn't be in the game. We have castigated other teams for their players playing too much or playing injured.

The only post we have is Key and the refs decided she wasn't going to play today. The rest are no help at all against a team like Stanford. Greene does not match-up at all, but she is getting all the minutes.

Kellie is at fault for not reeling Horston in, and putting too many players who can't score on the floor together. Dye is not getting the ball where she can score and is doing things outside her comfort zone when we could easily run some plays to get her looks where she likes to shoot.

Stanford is doubling our post, and getting the rebounds when we miss. We are a bad shooting team that relies on second chance pts so this is poison to us.

This is the first time I have seen our offensive woes affect our defense this year, and it is ugly.

Stanford is good, and well coached. We are young, inexperienced as a team, and rattled. That is a bad combination. I just want to see us be competitive in the second half. We are obviously not a top ten team yet. But it is good we are seeing what it will take to be one.

Stanford creates those backdoor plays for easy buckets. They run plays that get them wide open looks. Until Tennessee decides that our outdated offensive system doesn’t cut it anymore, we’ll continue to struggle to score against teams with similar talent.

And if you think about it. How many times do we ever watch our offense and say “that was a well executed play”. If we’re not scoring in transition we seem to really struggle.

Wynn over Darby or Rennie anyday just for defense alone.
Everyday of the week Jessie should not touch the floor against top 10 completion and Darby if she isn’t hitting 3s is also getting beat on defense I would much rather see Karoline and Kaiya
