I think we have a better shot at controlling this game compared to the FSU game. This Iowa team is a little more predictable.
Will be interested to see how Olsen is coming off her weird injury. Should be healed up but Jan still acted like she was limited a bit by it in her presser earlier this week.
As always gotta go Lady Vols.
82-74 is my prediction.
Iowa can score but they are not quite as athletic as other teams we have played. They still have some really confident, veteran, leaders leftover from the Clark era that give them an edge on cohesiveness.
O’Grady isn’t a player we can just NOT guard. She isn’t overly athletic but she can catch and finish a layup. Our bigs have to do a good job matching up with her in the paint.
We should matchup well with Stuelke and their perimeter players. Player to player we have an athleticism advantage over Iowa I did not think we had against FSU.
I expect to see us press more like we have been against Iowa. They did not handle pressure very well in their Caribbean tournament, of course that was without their primary ball handler, but still. I do think our pressure will wear them down as the game goes on.
Latson and Gordon are both “unflappable/untrappable” as Debbie Anontelli used to say about Ivory Latta. Made that a futile effort most of the game against FSU. Iowa bench is very young and will turn it over if put it a compromising position. Olsen is a talent but isn’t nearly as athletic as Clark and I think she can be doubled and turned over off our traps in a way Clark could not because of her passing. Olsen is definitely a pure scorer and not the playmaker Clark was.
