First quarter the team looked ...meh... Didn't see much excitement or enthusiasm. Second quarter on they looked way better. Kellie wasn't happy at the end of one. I think she got their attention in a hurry. Horston was as smooth as silk out there. She seemed to just flow around the court instead of run. Everyone looked good. Striplin was the only one who didn't get it going but she will get there. Pissot was bombs away. She hit one that they didn't count seems like. May have stepped on the sideline. I need to go look at the replay. You miss some things live and you also see some things you don't see on TV. We have the pieces, let's finish the puzzle.
While some are comparing, LSU had 1385 for their exhibition (and no better games to watch for weeks).8,103 in attendance for LVs exhibition! Boom .. Rocking Top is rocking️
Was just thinking about how I hope we'll find out next Tuesday (against Ohio State) that the staff has had enough time to install a workable press, because with the number of honest-to-goodness capable players Kellie has, I mean, can y'all imagine!?!?!? I know it's early and the staff can't have everything ready for rollout just yet, but I'd love to see at least a couple of minutes of full-court pressure to see what Kellie is thinking.
Yes, she hit it from so far out she was on the sideline. She has THAT much range. I said to my friend that was a bittersweet call because she didn't get the points, but everyone in that arena got wowed by her confidence in taking -- and making -- the shot..

She was just taking the temperature. That’s what exhibition games are for.I feel like they have a press they didn't want to show until the games counted. A lot of players have mentioned they have been practicing pressing of speeding teams up when they were on the defensive end.
I feel like Kellie held them back because she wanted them to have to guard and see who could guard one on one essentially. We will play a lot of quicker guards and a couple of teams you have to guard the 3.

Ohio State last year ran a full court press all the time so we will need to handle that. They have two very good guards who you really have to guard. Last year they did not have much of an inside game but don't know who they added. Have to think Kellie will employ a press some but thankfully she did not use it against CN.I feel like they have a press they didn't want to show until the games counted. Yeah, I wouldn't have wanted them to bring out the press against C-N, so I was glad they didn't even give it a practice minute. I guess I'm not altogether certain they've had enough time to get a killer press up to snuff, which as anyone who has ever played the game at a high level knows takes time to develop great timing and chemistry and, most importantly, stamina. You've got to have the lungs and the legs to truly crush an opponent's spirit with a strong press. I'm positive that'll happen this season, but just not sure what they'll show next week. Gonna be a good one!

I just got back also and you pretty much nailed it. I coulda cried several times, starting with just seeing RJ in an LV uni. Someone said the other day if you factory ordered the perfect basketball body you'd get Rickea. So smooth, so fluid, a much more reliable scorer than anyone we've had in a long, long time. Her presence so frees JH of pressure and allows her to do the many things she does well. They will indeed be the combo that keeps SEC coaches up at night.
I've been suspecting we might see more of Jordan Walker than many thought. KJH loves and trusts her. As with JH and RJ, the presence of Powell frees Jo to do what she does so well, get to the basket, rebound (!) play great D. I was very impressed with Powell, sees the floor well, an excellent passer. She was a such a crucial portal get. We are set at PG!
Wanted to cry again when Pissot started draining the 3s. She is as advertised as a shooter, but her D needs lots and lots of work. I believe I did shed a few over Puckett. As I thought last year, she is a player. Will be All SEC before she leaves here.
Marta was the pleasant surprise. She is aggressive and looking to score, and can really shoot. She will get mins.
I was a little disappointed in Franklin and Hollingshead, didn't realize Franklin had 10 rebounds! Both looked a little rusty and Franklin seemed a little slow. I thought Jillian settled in much better later in the game and still think she will be a huge contributor this year and a star the next few years. Franklin will come around also I'm sure.
KJH wants to play Tess, but I'm just not sure its going to work out that way. IMO, Striplin, Wynn, and Miles are going to struggle for mins.
I actually thought the crowd was decent for a scrimmage on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It occurred to me that the new players had probably never played in front of that many people.
This year is going to be fun for everyone. Not saying we'll win em all, but I'm pretty sure we'll be competitve in all.
KJH certainly wants to play Tess. She was off the bench very early and in for Walker, who I think they like having on the floor to start games. Its just that in the long run, it's hard for me to see Tess earning more minutes than Marta, Puckett, and even JP. I can see her getting time when/if the others are all cold from long range. It will be interesting to see who emerges from the Puckett/Marta/Tess/JP gaggle, and the competition can only help them and the team.Tess may in some sense control her own destiny. If she can hit a high % of threes, she will see minutes. She has experience and turned into a solid defender. There are going to be stretches in games where the LVs are going to need to spread the floor and Tess will be an option. If your assessment of JP is correct (and defense is usually the weak point for freshman), that will give Tess an edge at least early in the season.
I know some folks who want to come to games, but work. Also, it costs $15 to park this season. Free shuttle from Ag campus, but some don’t like riding it.
