Game Thread Lady Vols at Florida

She has helped us win some games but she is very soft. She never crash the boards b/c she's SOFT.

^ AMass is 5 ft nothing. how do you expect her to crash the boards being a midget that she is? I totally agree that she should come off the bench, be a "role" player and provide some much-needed senior leadership. She can certainly do that as long as she doesn't force the game (quick shooting for example) but let it come to her, set up her teammates, etc. We need Amass to make it to Tampa..

She's been told to stay the hell out of contact, I'd guess. Last year pre concussion she was taking the ball to the hole with abandon. Every player ever born has thrown up a stinker game or two in their time. Most all off her shots yesterday were at the end of the shot clock when our offense had failed to get a clear shot inside. Outside of her missing her shots, she had a good game, steadied the team when they needed it and gave Reynolds time to catch her breath. heaven forbid if our only option for that would have been Middleton yesterday.

Biggest gripe about yesterday's game?

The fact that the coaches never acknowledged the fans that traveled to the game and spent their time, money, and voices in support of the LVs. Holly & crew came out 30 seconds to game time, shook the refs hands and then it was play ball!

would it have hurt them to come out while the team was warming up and encourage the fanbase? A smile and a wave or two? I think they are taking their fans for granted. Bruce Pearl never does that and that is why he is selling out the arena for Auburn.

I agree with you gule! Ariel has been playing soft this year but I'd have to believe she's a little more cautious because of her past with concussions! I mean if the girl possibly has another one, it could be the end of her basketball career with as many as she's had....heaven forbid! But last year you would see Massengale diving on the floor and taking the ball to the hoop like an elite point guard. She had been shooting well from behind the 3 pt line as well. She was playing extremely well last year before her concussion. I can understand her caution but being a Senior she should play with a tad more urgency if she really wants to try and win a championship!

When AMass and Burdick are hitting shots that is when we are usually winning big. When they don't hit shots we struggle to score. We got some big help yesterday from Nared and Reynolds. We played ugly SC beat them by 30 plus points. Glad to win because it want be our last ugly game this season.

Thanks, gule. It's good to have first hand input:) on how the girls were playing. We had to stream it and it was pretty weak:bad:.

that little closed in gym is a POS for the players. Sidelines are almost into the seats. :(

I've attended quite a few home games since holly has been coach and usually if you stay for the post game interview she does with dear stone, she usually thanks the fans for coming out. But I agree with you, I think holly could do a bit more as far as embracing the fan base and try to widen it or give it more of a broader appeal. My main gripe with holly in this regard is that she doesn't keep the fan base updated on player statuses like jones and tucker. Another thing it could be is there is very little media coverage of the lady vols to begin with in the local market. There's really only two ways to find out about the lady vols...that's here and the summitt. That's pretty much it.
