Wasn't she a 5 Star All American? And yet she is sitting on the bench, why? That doesn't seem to make sense to me. Surely she can handle the ball better than some of the PG and surely she can dribble at one of their players and draw a foul. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why she is sitting.
As rough as this year is, I don't want to picture what next years squad looks like if Horston and Rickea head to the WNBA and with 0 incoming recruits
Did anyone else see Kara Lawson and Duke knocked off #9 Notre Dame at ND yesterday. 20-3 and 1st place in the ACC
Next year is a lame duck year with the expectations and zero roster to get there. She’ll lose her two best players and potentially more. That’s why I say it’s just a matter of time. Even if Kellie survives this year, there’s zero chance she survives next year. At this point in the season we will all be talking about how TN has to win the SEC tournament or miss out on its first ever NCAA tournament.
I know, I’m disappointed too. Wish we could clone that “it” factor she had.LadyinOrange said:
As someone who played for Pat Summitt, Kellie Harper sure doesn't coach like her.

Gilmore, look who she lost to tonight...
She is certainly no more of a liability than Puckett or Darby. She can't match-up with their guards on defense because they will blow by her, but we should have been in a zone of some sort and they wouldn't have been driving to the goal anyway.
Then on the other end she could post up Hayes and crew or shoot over them like they aren't even there. She can also make a better entry pass than any of our guards we have running the point so she would be a match-up problem for them too.
So yeah, this would be a tough game for her to be put in, but had she gotten time on the floor earlier she would be ready for it now. Instead we played others who have limited upside and have mainly topped out and are as good as they are going to be.
All of that would be OK were we winning, but we aren't. We haven't beaten a team with a pulse and we just lost to a zombie team that had no business being on the court with us.

People keep saying that the Lady Vols need to look outside of the internal tree for a coach, but I don't understand why anyone would want to do that when an extraordinary homegrown candidate like Kara Lawson is available. Kara would be a great fit at the helm of the Lady Vols, and her Top 5 class would be nice to poach given that Tennessee has nothing resembling a recruiting class at this point.
Danny White needs to back up the Brinks truck and make it happen.

I'm sure Coach Harper is very knowledgeable and knows the game but not everyone is a great coach who can translate what they want to do to the court. Its a skillset many lack. Some coaches also seem to struggle at P5's and thrive more in the mid majors.I can’t believe we won 3 natties with her running point looking at how little basketball IQ her coaching career has revealed her to have. Pat was such a basketball goddess. Could win with literally anyone
