Game Thread Lady Vols at Missouri

Another example of how we fall apart offensively--and defensively. DeShields looks terrible, and standing around.

Our offense has no structure whatsoever. If we can't run a fast break or get it inside we have no idea what to do at all.

Why is Middleton playing? Warlick is a little late getting Carter back in the game.

There is nothing about this team that says winner. 50% from the free throw line and missed lay ups and open shots under 5 feet. Hot and cold - lose focus. No toughness down low.

Good grief: Nared has been terrible. She just had an easy chance to make a layup, got fouled and missed.

What could have been but at least we've won both quarters. Need to win the third by 7 because the fourth is where we play terrible.

If we had made our free throws and Diamond had shot anywhere near the way she usually does were ahead by 20 points.

We had a chance to get a 20 point lead but of course basically fell apart the last 6/7 minutes of that quarter on both ends. Missouri is actually not very talented--that is obvious. They apparently are good at making threes--but our size and length is bothering them. We got very sloppy, missed easy shots, missed free throws, lost our defensive intensity and let mizzou back in the game--as usual.

Hopefully they keep shooting horribly from the three. They can't win without making 8 or more. We got to finish aggressively were short arm to many shots. Reynolds is the worst at doing it.

It is true--the players have to make freakin' shots. DeShields three wide open shots and not even close on any of them. Russell missed an absolute wide open layup--how????? Nared missed three straight free throws, then later missed a layup--she was fouled on the shot but still easily could have made it.

Diamond will have to make some shots or I figure we lose. She is going to take at least ten and she needs to make at least five.

Yes, the players are missing shots and free throws, but all that still comes back to coaching, especially when we see the same mistakes game after game. the usual bone headed substitution pattern makes me scratch my head, but we see it every game so I'm used to it by now.
