What's your over/under on points needed by UT to win this game? I will say 65--which would be a decent/above average offensive performance for us vs. a quality team and a good defensive performance against a fundamentally sound ND team.
Tenn will not be able to keep Notre Dame scoring low enough to win. Notre Dame has a complete offense, inside and outside. In addition, Tenn's press and trapping defense will be much less effective against an elite team like the Irish. I expect to see tenn abandon their press after the Irish break it for easy baskets.
I've watched quite a bit of SEC BB this season and a lot of contact is let go. That won't happen at Notre Dame. I expect to see Tenn get whistled often on offensive rebounding attempts. Harrison is foul prone and Muffet trains her players well on making it look good. The other thing I noticed is that SEC teams collapse their defense into the paint. That won't work on Monday. If Mabrey and Cable get open looks from the arc the LV's are going to be unable to keep up with the Irish scoring machine.
If Harrison and Massengale can stay out of foul trouble, play 34+ minutes each & if both can score at the upper end of their range the game could be close. Too many if's.
....ND is second only to, surprise surprise, uconn in fg percentage..ringing in at a hair under 50%. Turner for nd has the second highest fg percentage in the nation at 66%. They also are hitting 39% of their 3 point shots, and we all kno the trouble Tennessee has defending the perimeter shot. I believe that's the main reason ND was able to overcome the 12 point halftime deficit against us last season. Guess where Tennessee ranks in these same categories within the top 50? Simply put, they don't. Now I bring these stats up to back armchairs post above that nd is a VERY fundamentally sound team, especially on offense. I hope Tennessee come out focused and shoots well, especially in the first ten minutes. We should kno by that point if Tennessee will have enough to put away ND, who rarely loses at home. I think the difference in this game will be whether or not we can successfully limit the three point makes by mabrey and cable. Time will tell...hopefully we finally play a really good away game
I say give her a shot it`s not like Burdick, Graves, or Jones have playing lights out if you ask me they have been pretty bad.
We need her threat to score from 3 more than Burdick's foul line jumpers. give her some minutes, at least early in the game...
Imo, in order to win this game we need:
Izzy scoring early and maybe even get Turner in foul trouble.
Massengale hitting a decent percentage of 3's. having Carter and Burdick hit a few wouldn't hurt either.
Hit the boards hard. Outside of Turner, their bigs aren't that athletic.
Not go into long scoring droughts.

I agree. I'm a little surprised holly can't find a way to incorporate dunbars three point threat into the offense. she also rebounds really well.
It seems holly has kinda discouraged the freshman from taking three point shots, even if their wide open. I've noticed both Alexa and Jamie have passed really good looks up. Remember Alexa was bombing them away early in the season and making a pretty good percentage of them. I mean the three point shot is middletons bread and butter, so why mess with that??Maybe that has messed with their heads. Might explain Alexa's and Jamie's atrocious shooting as of late. Their to worried about missing shots!!
And yet they still have the 2 best players in this game by a mile. And a strong argument could be made they also have the third best player....
