Game Thread Lady Vols at South Carolina

The Lady Vols best road win this year was their 9 point victory over Florida. (SC beat Florida on the road by 21).

And we all know about some of the big road game disasters.

I think USC is vulnerable.... but it will take a level of road performance that we haven't seen yet this season to pull the upset.

Tennessee has the potential to win this game, but the result is 100% in the hands of SC. If both teams play to their potential, then SC will hands down win. Given the fact that they have MSU breathing down their necks in the conference race and the fact that this is a home game for SC, I have to imagine that they are going to fired up and ready to go.

SC 85 TN 62 is my prediction.

Good post. I agree with everything you said except the final score. The lady Vols have too much pride to not give a great effort this game. DD scares me. She could go for 20+ easily. Russell has been no slouch as of late either. Last year she pretty much shut down Coates & Wilson had to carry the team. Gray may perform well but that's no guarantee plus Davis is in a slump.

One thing the lady Vols can do well is play solid defense. Make no mistake about it SC will have to play well to win & if they play poorly the lady Vols can win this game. No doubt about it.

I am not so sure about can/will play defense well. It would not surprise me to play well at some time but we are not near big enough to handle the inside. We tend to play small at the wrong time. If DD and MR plays well we may not be blown out but 20 points or more beating would not be out of the question. SC has so much to play for and with their upcoming game with the Ucant Hussies they will be pumped. LV fan always but JMHO!:mf_surrender:

I'm watching A Cinderella Season: The Lady Vols Fight Back on YouTube and noticed something I wanted to share.

While studying film to prepare for UConn in the 1997 Regional Final (spoiler alert: UT wins), Pat, in a comforting tone, reminds the team to just be loose and play.

I think that may apply to some nagging issues we've identified this season and here's to hoping we get to playing loose team ball!

I'm looking forward to this game! It will tell us a lot!

I just now noticed...why is this game at 6 pm eastern?

Television driven times .Monday nite specials usually have a Double header so one game is scheduled to start at 6 PM so the late game can also start at a reasonable hour.

Edit .I just checked the ESPN schedule and there is no double header this week because they have a Super Bowl Special that follows our game.

The strangest thing about this game is that I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they won and wouldn't be surprised if they lost. That is how wide the range is for their performances this year. You truly never know what you are going to get and I suppose that must provide a certain level of excitement for fans in a rather unorthodox way. I hope at some point both teams go double post I would love to see what that looks like for a stretch.

I have no problem getting schooled if your prediction comes true, however, don't bet on it, there is a rare chance you might lose, of course hope lives eternal.

57-54 Lady Vols in a game where both sides have difficulty putting the ball in the hole. Foul shooting will determine who wins.

We typically have a stretch where we fire on all cylinders around this time of the season.. I'm hoping that stretch starts with UConn though. If we can beat Tennessee without firing on all cylinders then great.. but we need to have those horses ready for February 13th. I'll take a loss to Tennessee (and a potential three-way tie for the SEC regular season title) if it means beating UConn IN STORRS.... yep, I'll take that offer in a heartbeat.

The Tennessee game is interesting. Davis and DeShields will be a great matchup. DeShields has been playing well lately while Davis is currently slumping... but I have a feeling she's amped for this matchup. Gray and Wilson are playing VERY well right now. Coates and Cuevas are contributing solidly as well...
If you can't handle TENN at home, what on Earth makes you think you can take on UCONN in Storrs. They will be waiting, the arena will be packed, and the players have a mission..... "The streak doesn't end on our watch."
But, if you can get them in foul trouble you might stand a chance. Get them this year, because next year they get crazy good. Bringing in 2 transfers and 3 recruits and losing one starter and one end of the bench player.

Nobody beating UCONN on their court. And if nobody gets them in a game this year, the streak could go for another year or two as mentioned above, because they will be absolutely loaded next year, might be their best team ever.
