we were using the run-n-jump press to near perfection on the initial ball-receiver/handler,,,once Aub realized that we were over-playing the inbound-receiver, they began to cherry-pick....I see this tactic in gym-rat pickup gamesOn those long passes from the Auburn, the television coverage was frustrating in that the cameras were always focusing on throw in player and so we could never see what led to the breakdown.
For those at the game, what was going on? Auburn had at least 5 times they got behind the LV D for open lay-ups. That was about the only negative from this game so what led to those back
There many opportunities to play professionally outside this country, and far lesser players than Jill are doing it. I believe if JH wants to go that route and gets an agent, she'll find a way to earn a little money playing basketball. I suspect she may be one of those players who really gets good AFTER college and with some more maturity and adult confidence, so I'm really hoping she will. I mean, she may be, right now, at the very beginning of a spurt of game growth that could very quickly turn into a major transformation into being a real threat to opponents. I just have a feeling about her ... like she's standing right on the edge of it.Love Jill, but to be honest our expectations for her have scaled way down since she came here. All we expect now is solid role play in relief. As far as playing professionally, I'd be very surprised.
That first five minutes plus I thought we were in for a bad game. Gonna have to accept this teams slow starts it seems it takes them a while to get going. The two even quarter were humiliating to Auburn as we outscored them 50 to 23. The odd quarters 49 to 38. Hope we've turned the corner to playing like this or close to this from here on in as it is time to do so.
The way we played last night is totally the way Coach Kim would like to see the team play every game. We shot 56 percent, but could've still won the game shooting 30 percent which would've allowed us to score 69 points. We had 14 turnovers to their 21 and overall 70 shots to their 56. The bad was letting them get to the line 20 times. The awesome great was making 14 threes.
She likes to get at least 12 more shots is what she said at the press conference so 14 was right there. 10 to 12 free throws is ok over that just to much fouling. Auburn only made 11 of 20, but even if they'd made them all just 70 points. As you see though if we had shot 30 percent they would've won because of the free throws. I didn't agree with all the fouls, but were fouling to much even is you think 4 or 5 were bad calls.

Agreed.I read through the early posts on this thread and there sure was a lot of kvetching about those first 5-7 minutes. I actually expected they may not be sprinting from the starting gun. They had just come off two high intensity, emotional roller coaster games and for Auburn, we were the big fish to catch. So, there was an emotional imbalance. But, they definitely kicked it up a gear and it helped that they had their best shooting night of the conference schedule (by far).
This game was super fun but you have take size of the beat down with a small grain of salt because shooting 14-28 from 3 and almost 60% overall is not at all baseline for this team. Substract Coop's 1-7, the rest of the team went 13 for 21 = 62%. That is fire!
I am not sure anyone could be beat them when they are stroking the ball like that.
On a footnote, Coach Kim was arguing with the refs, but our good friend Coach J won't be happy with her unless she gets the ref in a headlock on the sidelines...LOL
You're a good guy Coach....

Definitely I was distraught at the start more so because Auburn had just played Oklahoma to a draw other than two free throws made in the final four seconds. We've had bad starts before that helped also as the first LSU loss was totally fueled by that dreadful first quarter. So yes me along with a lot of posters have seen this too much and this time it was delightful in the end. There are two other times when we could not recover.I read through the early posts on this thread and there sure was a lot of kvetching about those first 5-7 minutes. I've never thought ballistic was a good idea a lot of times it loses you two points and the ball out of bounds. She does a great job on the sideline think most of the Refs even like her. We got some bad calls Auburn did to it usually all evens out.CKC is not just one to go ballistic. But she definitely gets in the refs ears. They had one shot where she was "working the ref" in a very conversational manner for over 90 seconds, while that same ref was holding the ball for a throw in. Normally, a coach sticking in a refs ear that long, and delaying the game, would get a tech (and such coaches would usually be in a mouth foaming frenzy) but she really could not tee-up CKC who was just so calm, composed (and cute!!).
Maybe, just maybe, speaking hypothetically and theoretically, mind you…CKC is not just one to go ballistic. But she definitely gets in the refs ears. Exactly, when you as a ref start going to players to explain you've lost the moment. Now if a player ask respectfully for an explanation, I think its OK to give a short succinct answer and move on.Yeah I thought that was super unprofessional. I prefer if they just stand on it and carry on. He KNEW he was screwing up and kept arguing with the players about it.
"Couch Thumper"Maybe, just maybe, speaking hypothetically and theoretically, mind you…
if Kim were to act as Couch Thumper insists she ought to, fulminating and growling like a
proper wannabe alpha male, she could earn a position as a coach for adolescent girls.
Or, she could keep on being her own fine self, restoring the LV program.![]()

Another aspect is, each coach has to know his/her team, and how much they can handle hearing their coach complaining to the refs without losing their focus and becoming more aware of the refs instead of things they control on the court.I've never thought ballistic was a good idea a lot of times it loses you two points and the ball out of bounds.
