Game Thread Lady Vols Softball Team week 13

Last night I thought the girls looked flatter than gum on a sidewalk, but I believe they look less inspired than then in todays game. No sense of urgency either game!! Two hits that I remember against a decent pitcher. If Leach bats leadoff tomorrow it is certainly a Ralph headscratcher. Would not be surprised to lose the series.

Root for another Auburn loss today to bail us out.

The only thing worse than our choke job today was Georgia. Last I checked it was 7-1 UGA. Imagine my surprise when I just checked scores lol

This is her first bad series in a while. She was hitting very well and had made no errors in the last few games.

You can put Geer at 2nd and then you have to put McSwain back at 3rd.

Good thinking,Jeff,Geer at second was good last year and McSwain, though with problems, was good at times. Make Leach the DP.

Osias throws a 2-hit complete game shutout. I knew she was a good pitcher but getting skunked by an unranked team shouldn't have happened. Every time it looks like TN has turned a corner and will be a terror, they play a game like this.

Remind me to never choose another "pick to click"...poor Leach has struggled in both games this weekend...but she had plenty of company today! 2 hits won't win many games. The pitching staff has yielded 5 total runs and 4 of those have been unearned! Left 7 on base in the last 4 innings! Our infield is middle of the pack in the SEC at best. I've seen errors from all of them in recent games...Geer is playing a relatively new position at 3rd, Greg has struggled, Leach has been a train wreck at times, and Aucoin has days where catching a perfect throw to 1st base is an adventure. Other than that...we're GREAT! :pepper:

I want to give our pitchers a nod of respect! Why? Because the defensive support for a good part of the year has been HORRENDOUS!!!

Agreed--even with our errors today 3 runs should not win a game in today's SEC. This one is all on the bats.

In good news Texas A&M just lit up Auburn in the 4th to take a 10-6 lead. An Aggie win pushes us back into the Top 4.

Move Geer to second and put McSwain on third move Leach to DH. Geer was far better at second than Leach is and McSwain is better at third than Leach is at second. Hopefully A&M can hold that lead and were still in fourth going into tomorrow.

A&M is now leading 13 to 6 but never enough runs with Auburn at home. They are like Bama who was losing to Georgia 7 to 1 and won 9 to 7.

I don't think they will move Leach. I know they did let Scarlet play her way out of 3rd base but I am not sure that we have another glove we can put anywhere. Acoine is indeed an adventure at 1st. A little late in the season to make any wild moves and we are going to have to live or die with 2nd and 3rd base defense. Offence sucked really today and last nite except one inning. Pitchers deserve better but defense in the infield will most likely keep us from the WS. Just my 2 cents worth!

Auburn lost so we are still in the number four spot if we win tomorrow or if they lose again were there as well. Hopefully Bama,Kentucky, and auburn all lose while we win tomorrow.

Yep the number 4 seed will end up on the Florida side of the bracket and they are by far the best team in the league. We cannot complain much since we controlled our own destiny and could not beat a mediocre OMiss team today and would not surprise me tomorrow as well.

Would not call number 29 RPI team mediocre. That's a little inaccurate.

Ole Miss pitcher Madi Osias pitched a gem today. I knew she was a good pitcher, but didn't realize how good she can really be on their home turf. Good pitching always beats good hitting. End of story. A Leach error definitely hurt a ton, but I'm not sure we can put the blame solely on her. She's not having a good series so far for sure. As has been said repeatedly on this board all year, our infield defense is a cause for concern as the postseason play looms.

I think the team will bounce back nicely and win the series tomorrow. If we take care of our business, then KY & Bama losses will secure us the #2 seed. If we take care of our business, then either a KY or Bama loss (only one of 'em wins) will secure us the #3 seed. If we take care of our business and both KY & Bama win too, then we will be the #4 seed. Just win baby, win!
