dang those statistics don't lie! lol

our fielding stinks at every spot on the roster!

Matty has been pitching as the so called 3rd pitcher certainly not anywhere like we want her to be. She was recruited to pitch more regular but high school and travel ball is not college ball. She could live on the speed in the past but in college speed and a good change up or another off speed pitch is needed. I would hope her confidence is off the charts now and we see a different Matty Moss.
The catcher position has improved but generally as the erratic pitching improves the catcher improves. Still a muffed play yesterday when we had a sure out when the runners both were at 3rd base and the throw to third from Lexi was not close to getting the out but the other runner was not going to get back to 2nd. All is well that ends well I guess. Need to sweep today and get ready for the Devil to Go Down to Georgia as Charley Daniels would say.

florida seems to have the best pitching in the conference by a wide margin. Their pitchers completely shut us down, and we have a good hitting team.

1st batter a walk. Next a hit and then a steal of second should have been out ump missed call, seeing eye hits and a mental error by Geer not tagging 3rd rather than risk a throw into left field. Got out of it some way. 2-0

Observation: Can't imagine why Ralph did not have a pinch runner for Aucoin even though she scored in the 5th. and why he did not have Vines stealing 2nd when Geer was batting. She eventually popped up and runners still on 1st and 3rd. Then when Gregg was up he sent Vines on the first pitch and ball thrown into center field and Leach scored from 3rd. Greeg flied out deep to end inning. Sometimes I scratch my head but then again I am not the coach just a LV fan.

Finally got the last out. Those last six outs were hard to get glad we had the bats going today.

Great to sweep a very good hitting A&M team....still gotta get through the UGA series, Auburn series, and a game against Oklahoma

I would take 2-1 out Georgia and Auburn as well. Should go to ole ms and get 3 but who knows how the fielding and mental errors will happen. I think we can beat Oklahoma as well since it is a home game. Monroe lipscomb and tech should be wins.

Give a shoutout to McSwain for the pinch hit single. Maybe this will help her confidence some. I had hoped Lockman would get a chance as well.

I would take one at Georgia. That would be an accomplishment. Same as Missouri. Tough to win there on the road.

Ralph often does some bone headed things. To pull Gabriel when she is pitching so well because of one miss hit and then a hit and he pulls her. Boneheaded. Guess he didn't remember how TAMU blasted Gaffin on Friday.

I have missed a few games -- 1st Ive seen of these vested type uniforms

Gabriel often starts slowly in the first inning - for a few games early in the season she was giving up 1st inning home runs. This is worrisome but she seems to become dominant for the next few innings.

You're right about the steal - the A&M runner was out.

A starter may be removed from the game and then re-enter once. I assume that with a lead Ralph felt no need to substitute, thinking that if you get behind later and really need a run, substituting a second time permanently removes Aucoin from the lineup. Just a guess.

Kentucky takes the series from LSU at LSU. Back to back complete game shutouts by the Wildcat pitchers. Wow. I thought Kentucky didn't belong in the top three of the SEC, but they haven't been dislodged yet.

You're starting to see some separation between the first six and the bottom seven teams in the standings. I can't believe where LSU is. Their schedule is bottom-loaded with weak teams however, so they can easily finish the season with 9 straight conference wins.

Tennessee has the week off before going to Georgia. Georgia just finished sweeping Missouri in Columbia. We'll see if this new-found toughness and maturity can get the team a couple of wins in Athens. Georgia goes to Auburn and to Alabama to finish the conference season, so that is a tough ending for them.

Standings:

Florida 12-3
Auburn 9-3
Kentucky 10-4
Tennessee 10-5
Alabama 8-4
Georgia 8-4
Texas A&M 5-7
Missouri 5-7
LSU 5-9
South Carolina 4-8
Ole Miss 4-8
Mississippi State 2-10
Arkansas 1-11

Don't know how we come out in the next polls but anything above #15 is not cool. I do not know how the rest of the power conferences fared this weekend but I know that TAM as well as LSU and Missouri struggled. Just keep winning and polls will take care of themselves.

What a pleasant day it was at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium today getting the sweep over the nation's 10th ranked A&M Aggies! The stadium was rocking and the crowd was fired up to get the W today. I just forgot to bring a broom to the game, but that's okay, I expected the sweep before the series started. :)

Aubrey Leach and Brooke Vines at the the top of the lineup remind me of Chavanne and Dotson 1-2 punch we used to have a few yrs back. What an offensive weapon/juggernaut Chavanne and Dotson were, and if Leach and Vines stay the course, we'll have something special to watch over the next 3 and half yrs. As Ralph mentioned in the post-game interview Aubrey Leach just has a great instinct as a baserunner. She can flat out run the bases. And at the plate she seems to have a great feel for the game too. If she will totally clean up the fielding errors moving forward, she could challenge to be named the SEC freshman of the year at the end of the season. We'll see about that.

I'm happy for Scarlett McSwain for getting that single; that was a great call by Ralph to put her in that spot as a PH. McSwain is a good (clutch) hitter, and we just have to utilize her offensive prowess any way we can to help us win more games. But she can't field?! On the other hand, CJ McClain who happens to be a great fielder is helpless at the plate. I'm not too sure whether she'll pan out as a slapper moving forward. It was painful to watch her struggle to get a hit in three futile attempts. Maybe she'll blossom given more time but I'm not too optimistic at this point. She just doesn't seem to have an instinct/feel for it. Once again the word, "instinct".

This has been under the microscope before but IF Ralph (& Karen) can figure out the perfect timing/dynamics of when to pull a struggling starting pitcher AND put in the "right" mid-inning reliever/late game closer, not to mention starting the "right" pitcher for certain games, it greatly increases their chances of hoisting a championship trophy one day. It will mean a world of difference in close/crucial games such as the ones they will find in OKC in late May-early June. To me either they innately lack the instinct/feel for it, or they just don't study the analytics of the match-ups, head-head statistics long and hard enough. This single trait is the most glaring weakness I've found on their otherwise stellar coaching resume particularly since the NC series against OU back in 2013.

Great job everyone for getting the third series sweep of the season! Woohoo!
