Gaffin drags bunt foul then an illegal pitch is called. I believe Silkwood had a couple of those Friday. Gaffin then singles up the middle. 1 on and no out.

Top of the order due. MSU coach calls time and changes pitchers to the freshman Cassady Knutsen.

Gregg pops up to shallow short. 1 out. Gaffin steals second.

Lewis gets hit by a pitch. 2 on and 1 out.

Geathers singles to left. Bases loaded once again. Wow. Let's see what happens with Aucoin at bat.

Aucoin hits a short fly to left for out number 2. Bases still loaded.

McSwain triples to right! Three runs score!! 8-0 lead for the LV's!!!

Geer at bat. Passed ball but McSwain chooses to stay at third. Geer lines out to 2nd.

Game resumes.

Silkwood with an infield single to deep second. Geer made a valiant effort and got to the ball but couldn't make the throw in time. 1 on and no outs.

Long foul down the left field line and then another single up the middle. Jeez what has happened to Rainey? She has been our most dependable pitcher and MSU knocked her around a bit Friday and now today.

Ralph makes the pitching change to Aucoin. Good news that she can now pitch.

We'll see if she can find the plate.

Interesting stat: Aucoin has the most starts but the least innings pitched for the LV's except Tarango who was injured much of the first of the season. That says a lot about her control.

Oh good lord she hits Winkfield. 3 on no outs.

I can't take it.

Aucoin is uncanny, in a bad way: She simply cannot pitch without walking two to three batters, and hitting at least one, in her first couple of innings.

Next MSU batter flies out to short center. The throw home is way wide and a runner scores and the other two advance. 8-2 LV's, 2 on and 1 out.

Strikeout for out number 2! Good off speed pitch. Aucoin takes a page from Tarango's play book.

Strikeout number 3! Still a bunch of off speed junk. MSU can't hit it, might as well throw it.

LV's limit the damage and lead 8-2 heading to the top of the 3rd.

Koenig now in the lineup and draws a walk.

Passed ball and Koenig lumbers to 2nd barely beating the throw. Let's get a run back, girls.

Overstreet singles to left! Koenig makes it home. 9-2 LV's. Overstreet is now 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's.

Gaffin flies out to left for out number 1.

Top of the order. Gregg is due for a hit. Come on. Gregg doubles to left-center! Overstreet scores. 10-2 LV's.

Lewis singles to right. Gregg scores and Lewis takes second (I thought the throw got her, glad I'm not the ump). 11-2 LV's. 1 on and 1 out.

Geathers strikes out. 2 outs.

Aucoin long foul ball down the right field line. She then gets hit by a pitch. 17th hit batsman by Ward according to the MSU announcer.

McSwain hits a hard shot to left but the MSU fielder makes a nice running catch for out number 3. LV's strand 2 but lead 11-2 heading to the bottom of the 3rd.

Well the Aucoin pitching adventure continues.

MSU homers with the leadoff batter. 11-3 LV's. No outs.

Koenig now at 1st and Tarango in the bullpen.

Next batter walks on 4 straight pitches after Aucoin went ahead 0-2 in the count.

Ralph makes the change now because it takes Tarango a few batters to settle down. Can't afford to lose a big lead. 11-3 LV's bottom of the 3rd 1 on and no outs.

It's almost 4 pm after a 2 pm start and this game hasn't gotten through three innings yet...

Gaffin now at first and Koening not playing.

Yeah boy Tarango hits the batter bases now loaded. I could have predicted that.

Oh wow, the batter pops up and Tarango misjudges it badly and the ball lands in the infield. The ump calls infield fly rule and the batter is out! I have never seen anything like this. MSU can't be happy, what a bad break for them. 1 out.

Five years ago nobody in women's collegiate softball could get a hit. Now the pitchers can't get outs. From one extreme to the other. I think Ralph is tired of Aucoin's wildness.

just don't know what has happened to Gretchen. She had great stuff in Fl at the USF tourney. I thought she was going to be another Abbott...... The umps really messed her up in a couple games after that though that I saw on TV.

Now Tarango hits yet another batter. She throws another one in the dirt that hits the next batter. Umps don't let her take her base however ruling she didn't try to get out of the way.

Another ball in the dirt! I don't believe this! The runner takes second.

Long fly to the wall for the third out. Whew! 11-7 LV's heading to the top of the 4th.
