Contract extensions for P5 teams are meaningless. Pay the buyout and move on.

The only one I could imagine is Alex Simmons but she does not have enough experience. Her teams play hard but she’s never led a program anywhere near this. We need someone who understands winnng at the P5 level. That isn’t going to come from the Lady Vol coaching tree.

Amen to that. Will always love her, but this level of play isn’t up to the brand standard.

It isn’t even up to the top 25 standard, clearly.

I don’t think there is any chance she’d go for that. If she would, then yes. But I would be terrified for her. She’s the only one confident enough and with a large enough profile to attract recruits.

But it could be another Lindsey Whalen thing. That had to be tough for Minnesota.

She would get the recruits, and I guarantee you she would show that Pat Summit fire on the sidelines. Would those attributes outweigh the negatives of no coaching experience.. probably not, but it would be a hire that could re-invigorate the program over the first two years. If she won some games, I think she could get us back to the promised land, otherwise, we're back to firing a Lady Vol GOAT in 5 years.

That anyone anywhere would suggest hiring yet another former LV player, and one with zero coaching experience to boot, is just gobsmacking to me. The definition of insanity.

When Strip got here I told my daughter to watch her because she has very good fundamentals and will do well against teams who aren't a lot more athletic than she is, but will struggle against teams with athletic posts or who outsize her.

She always gives good effort and plays hard. I am very happy to see her have a big game. She deserves it and has put in the work.
