I didn't bother watching the last half of the fourth quarter. I knew exactly what was going to happen and it did. The fact is we are trying to win the derby with a couple of mules and a plow horse or two. We have some fine young women on this team but they are not the athletes you need to win these days. The game has outgrown those type of ball players and we haven't kept up. As much as everyone is upset now, there will not be any changes made until after the season if changes are to be made. We have what we have and must live with it for now.
Yes ironically, we played better statistically tonight. They really exploited us defensively tho, coached the pants off us.What's discouraging is that in most ways, statistically, we were better than we normally are--and better than we've been in recent games. And yet still lost. We shot 41 percent for the game--and 40 percent from the 3 line, the latter being much better than we normally shoot from distance. Also, we had a positive A/TO ratio (13 assists, 11 TOs): that is a good (and rare for us). Not enough balanced scoring, not enough rebounding, and not enough defense.
What happened to Hollingshead?
TNT probably pays her more working for them ...I don’t think there is any chance she’d go for that. If she would, then yes. But I would be terrified for her. She’s the only one confident enough and with a large enough profile to attract recruits.
But it could be another Lindsey Whalen thing. That had to be tough for Minnesota.
Concussion protocol is what I readWe are most definitely lacking in team athleticism, and that's a problem in basketball. It's a problem defensively; we have multiple players who are not athletic enough to be good man defenders.
And defense was our problem tonight, based on the stats. MTSU shot 46 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3 line They out-rebounded us by 7.
