Game Thread: Lady Vols v UCONN; Thurs. 8PM; on ESPN

Venturing over onto the boneyard, they seem to think they have this one easily won.
Last year they beat the stuffing out of us without Bueckers or Ducharme.

Kellie has begged fans and students to show up for this one and I think she’ll get her wish. But if they lay another egg tonight like they did up there last year, it’ll be the last time she gets a big crowd.

Didn't mean to sound coy I'm just kind of sick of people looking for an excuse for the connies to lose
no worries and i am used to being challenged as i have told you before on the forum i need to speak less!!!! it is only opinion dont think tonight will be a signature win but i am glad we still play the seriees

Really excited about tonight's game.

More than anything, I just hope we don't beat ourselves. I've been thinking about the Stanford game, and how we literally gave them two points because a staff member entered Jill's number wrong. They ended up going on a small run after that. We lost the game by 7.

I hope the poor end-of-quarter execution isn't a thing tonight, because UConn will definitely capitalize. I want to see Rickea or Jordy taking the shot in that scenario. If they miss, I can live with it.

Walker and Powell will have to make good decisions. I hope they avoid trying to challenge UConn's bigs. It won't end well.

I'm excited to see the atmosphere. Think it'll be a really good game!

I wish as strongly as anyone that the LVs could defeat UConn. However, I am realistic. UConn is ranked 4th or 5th in WCBB rankings. The LVs are unranked. I hope this is not a blowout, e.g., UConn 91- UT 59, but there is a strong possibility that it could happen.

Win or lose, I would just like to see us be the aggressors and play with confidence and intensity for 40 minutes. This business of getting tight, or having lapses is old. The team has nothing to lose and everything to gain so the Huskies are the ones who should be tight.

Give the crowd a reason to get in the game and let's see if we can get in their heads and ride the wave.

Depends on the rating system. Hollingshead was named to the McD AA team, though.

Hollingshead has the potential to be a very good player for us. She still seems to have a lot of upside. I was impressed by the jump shots she took and made last game. Continuing to push her and to develop her game on both ends should be a priority.

a big priority. she’s so mobile for her size. she could be very good.

What about TK? How about Marta? Horston just missed the last game with illness. So tired of this narrative already.

If we win, according to the press, it will only be because UConn was short handed. If we lose it will be because we just aren’t that good and you’ll never hear a thing about the challenges we’ve overcome this season.

Hope we mop the floor with them. Still expecting a close game in the 50s but I’d love to see us run away with it.

Still hope we cancel this series. I don’t think it benefits Tennessee in any way to play them.

Losing Key was big. Without her, it just makes UConn's frontcourt that much more dangerous.

Geno must have a crystal ball in signing Lopez Senechal. She would have been buried in the depth chart with a healthy Bueckers, Fudd and Ducharme. If he hadn't gotten her from the portal, they would be dead in the water. Griffin returning to action at such a high level is another surprise. Plus how much better Edwards and Juhasz have gotten this year.

If they had their guards healthy, they'd probably be a solid #1 and the bettor's favorite to win the NC. They could still have a solid shot if they get Ducharme back.

It has very little to do with the players on the court and a great deal to do with the coach on the sidelines.

I hate him, but you could give Geno a team of decent high schoolers and within 2 days I’d bet you anything he could beat half the current top 25 teams.

I'd take that bet in a heartbeat. For any amount of money. Just free money on a sure bet.

You could give him a whole year with most state championship teams, and they still couldn't beat any D-1 team. Maybe a loaded team with several 5-star recruits from a basketball facto...er...academy...could. But even all-state, Miss Basketball types don't see the court much their freshmen years. And that's at smaller schools, much less Top 25 schools.

In fact, give him (or any college coach) a team of "decent" college players, and they're still going to lose to Top 25 teams 99% of the time regardless of who's coaching the team.
