Harbison and the other guard that do most of their scoring were 8 for 35 today. We finally defended the players that matter the most something we haven't always done.
i noticed Walker and Darby got blown by rarely, and when someone allowed a driver to turn the corner and get down the lane, someone came over to help. It was good team defense.
Our defense was a little different today. At times it appeared we were trying something similar to UGA with that matchup man. It should be a zone but it’s really not. With our length it works well as long as players rotate quickly and properly.
I also loved seeing some 2-2-1 press action. Something I mentioned weeks ago. That zone press is an excellent option with our length and depth this season. I would put Jackson and Hollingshed at the top of it with Horston and Walker patrolling the middle. Make them throw over some length and bait teams into some bad passes for easy scores.
Would like to see us do that on made baskets and made free throws some more.
If only Wynn could shoot! I think she's grown, physically, since last year. She has an elite body and the quicks.Inoticed Wynn did some good things in this game off the bench. That was good to see.

I like the press also and we seem to be fairly good at it. Only thing is, Jackson, Horston and Walker are playing big minutes and will be the rest of the year. The press adds miles to the legs.
The SC post game is way to powerful for us to be able to win that game without some sort of miracle game. I think Jordan Horston and Rickea Jackson are better than Beal and Cooke but that is as far as it goes they have every other advantage and matchup and will probably win by 20 unless we play a sensational game.South Carolina has no player that is shutting down JH or Rickea one on one. I don’t want to hear or see stats. Bottom line.

Their post game will affect Jackson and Horston much more than Beal and Cooke. Both Jackson and Horston like to get to the basket and that will be difficult with Boston and Carsoso backing up Cooke and Beal. Same thing we had going with Key on defense. The SC post game is way too powerful for anyone to be able to win against them. When they got Cardoso it was over for everyone else.
As far as the JH/RJ matchup with Beal and Cooke, it depends on whether first half against Vandy JH or second half JH shows up. RJ you can count on for consistency, tho she'll have a much rougher slog against them, espec if JH isn't strong throughout the game.
Yes I wasn't talking about them guarding each other more about how many points they will score a duos. One big downfall for LSU losing so badly was Cooke and Beal went 11 for 22 50 percent which is something they seldom do. I think we outscore them at those two positions and they win big from the other three.Note i don`t see Horston matched up against Cooke not a good matchup for Horston will get into foul trouble i think ? TN better off letting Walker play Cooke and Horston play Fletcher ?
Definitely. Much as I love RJ's spin moves to the hoop, she'll need to depend way more on those awesome stepback jumpers and midrange. Same for JH. Boston and espec 6'7" Cardosa not having it at the rim.Their post game will affect Jackson and Horston much more than Beal and Cooke. I think if we had the right winning program the potential for 12 to 15 thousand is there. The men sell out 21574 almost every game they play.Forgot to add re the Vandy game: great crowd, over 9,000. Very surprising on a cold, rainy Super Bowl Sunday with that other WBB game on TV at the same time and given recent events.
KJH almost teared up talking about the crowd at pressor. Obviously the show of support meant alot to her.
Actually, much as we love to fan fic these things, she didn't. Said that in a couple of post game interviews. Said she reminded them what they were supposed to be doing then told them to clean the slate, start over in a tie game, and this time get it right. They did.CKH flat chewed out some serious azz at halftime yesterday.

But for those that love coaching performative art and think KJH never does it, they play a vid of her going hard after them on the big board as part of the pregame pump up show. She just knows it's more effective if not overdone. Bobby Knight's players said by the end of his career their biggest fear was that they might actually laugh out loud at what they called "BK Theatre."
