Wells didn’t have to score in this game to be effective. And a person with a twisted vindictive agenda towards college basketball players isn’t going to make me change my stance.
The commentator’s(both of them) literally spoke highly of Wells the entire time she was on the court.
You people need to seriously get some help because this is beyond crazy to sit here and try to discredit talented players when you are constantly in the minority.
Both exhibition games the commentators have spoke extremely high of the transfers.

Rebounds 38 Tn to 37 USA bet Kellie will be proud of that. We couldn't score inside on them but hit 9 threes they hit 11. They had 14 steals to our 4, We had 18 turnovers they had 9 They are very strong defensive team. They hit 55 percent we made 33 percent. Field goal attempts 64 to 64.

We also had 36 bench points out scored them in second chance points

I think what was questioned was, did Wells play an "outstanding" game ?
What wasn't questioned was the level of her play last year, or what the announcers said she will bring to the LV's this year.
If you play 13 minutes, go 0 for 4 in fga's, zero assists, zero rebounds, zero blocks, zero steals and 2 turnovers, it's difficult to see how that could be interpreted as "outstanding".
It doesn't mean she won't be great this year. It only means that, in fact, she was not outstanding, in the 13 minutes that she played, this game.

Everyone was scrappy as hell, no one quit or backed down. If they did have "fun" that's great. Not sure anything of any value happened in the game and I still wish we hadn't done it.

One thing of value actually did happen and that was Rickea showed she can create and score on that competition. Wish she'd shot at her usual efficiency and scored 20. I thought she also played some really good one on one D. Easy to see she's an W quality player and we're lucky to get to watch her against mere mortal college players. But dang, I'm super concerned about her right knee again. Did they mention it on TV? She got treatment whenever she was out and did not warm up w the team to start the second half. This is the third time I've seen this and it's an effing terrifying development. The nightmare.

The USA players really showed RJ alot of respect after the game, gathering around w hugs and words. They know they'll be seeing her soon enough.

I said last week our guards would be overwhelmed and indeed they were. All of them, individually and collectively. JP got 7 rebs just off Jordan Walker style hustle and that was nice. I thought Strickland was aggresive and unafraid. But they were lucky to get a pass off, much less run a play. Not sure how any of them benefited except to be relieved the next opponent won't be them.

Jewel seemed uncomfortable, much like she was in Mexico. But I think she'll settle in, probably Tuesday night. I thought Sara and Jill had good moments and it's obvious those two are going to be major players this year.

Loved seeing TK get that block. However, as of now, she's still not quite ready.

Seeing DT drain 3s was nauseating. To my disappointment, she was never booed. I love Jackie Young. One of the main reasons I went was to see her in person.

Wells maybe took 3 shots(4 with the buzz beater attempt to end the quarter) . She played with poised and did about as good a job organizing and setting up the offense as possible considering the competition. She hustled and competed defensively. Everything isn’t about stats.
I’ve seen Wells make savvy plays in two exhibitions games that Tennessee hadn’t seen out of this position in multiple seasons.
As I said let it go.

It’s remarkable when you see the AmeriCup tourney just this summer… how difficult that experience and competition was for Team USA that consisted of the top college players across the country.
This Nat’l USA Team is several notches above that competition and we have folks literally talking down on this team and the players performance.
You can’t make this stuff up.

I thought Wells and Spear both looked a little nervous and uncomfortable. Understandably so. But I still think they'll settle in and along w Powell, make a really decent back court for us. Should be a big upgrade.

If anything at all, this game has showed that Wells is head and shoulders above Powell. The turnover difference when Powell is on the floor versus Wells is absolutely crazy.

What game were you watching. I was there, Powell and Wynn were the only two Bhers that didn't look/play scared.

Wells was outstanding? According to the game stats, she was 0-4 from the floor, had 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 rebounds--and was the only Vol with a negative efficiency rating. Only played 13 minutes--but I think nobody played more than 19 mins.

That’s the spark that is needed as the regular season starts Tuesday. The bench will be key. I love the starting lineup maybe a change at C could go either way. In the backcourt, Wells is ready to go. Spear will be ready to go.
The Lady Vols absolutely got exactly what they needed out of the portal and have absolutely it with ease year after year!

Ace really did impress me with her ability to get to the basket vs some of the best in the world (something our team as a whole struggled) and her defense really stepped up. 2-3 from 3 isn’t bad either

There were several positives that came from this game. The first concerns Avery Strickland. She got over her nervousness that she showed against C-N and played much better tonight. Her outside shot is coming around and she made two 3-pointers. You posters that said she is not SEC caliber material are very wrong. She showed it tonight. She was not intimidated against the U.S. team. You can't really pick that up by watching the game on TV. I was there. She showed grit, hustle and determination. I think that's the reason Kellie added her to the squad.
Another positive was the play of Edie Darby at point guard. She also was not intimidated by the U.S. players and made a three-pointer. She handled the ball better against their guards than the two point-guards ahead of her on our team. I don't care what her height is, the girl needs a scholarship and more playing time.

You cannot judge this game as to how the Lady Vols will do during the season. Several of our players who played tonight will not see the light of day against the LSU's, USC's and NDs. Quit talking about who did bad they were playing against pros. I doubt if what we saw tonight will be anywhere close to the line ups KJH put up against good college competition.

Watched the game tonight. A lot of positives. Jackson (obviously) and Hollingshed have next level skills. Hollingshed was a force on the boards. Powell and Wells played hard and will be fine. I thought Wynn played very well too. Wynn got airborne a couple times without a plan but she handled the ball well.
Against bigger guards Wynn's size and pace will help. Strickland played well also and earned some playing time.

The game was a big win for Tennessee. No one got hurt. They now have 40 minutes of film to review and use to get better. Very proud of the team. They played well given the competition.

I know most won’t agree with me but I think Wynn is our most improved player. She had the speed to keep up with the pros tonight. I thought she looked sharp.
