Game Thread Lady Vols vs Auburn

Makes me think about next years starting 5.
Annie & Evina in the backcourt
Zay will probably start at 3? Or maybe Rennia at 3 instead.

Don't forget about Burrell, wait til you see her game, I know we have been saying the Sidney Spencer type for few years, but she is close, her mentality and grit, she is the real deal, I can't wait to see her play against players of her talent level all the time. Sometimes, she can get bored, but this past summer wooo hoooo, swagger.

Yes, those two in the backcourt, makes me feel good. We gave good guards, who have the potential to be great. Yes, I love watching them play, cos I feel we will be in every game.

You can see why E was considered the best guard in the country, almost the best player, and I don't see that stopping. She's special, and Annie, is special too.

Yes, finally we have guards, tough guards, its been a LONG time, and they hate to lose, which makes me want to watch.

Two Freshman will play will be needed right away: If Collins is serviceable, we become a better team, but my bet is Burrell or Zay!

All the players we recruited, initially at the traditional 2, 3, 4 spots; in the four guard lineup truly, 1, 2, 3, 4, position, in a sense are all interchangeable, so for each player its a matter of; their ability to dribble, then they can truly play 1-4, and make a team harder to defend and every player we recruited will hopefully get in the gym and aspire to be that kind of player.

Then our guards, learns how to play on the block, with their back to the basket, now when a team is smart, high bball iq, anytime there is a mismatch, we get that player the ball, it should be a score. Next team progression..only freshmen...lol

Nared, is working on her handles, Nared plays 1-4! Versatility.

Post up, shoot the tree, slash, set up players, rebound and defends.

Yea, I see Collins being Hines-Allen kinda player.

But all in all, the future looks bright Orange! We will have options.

Nared has really elevated her game. Another double-double for her on a night when she wasn't shooting her best from the field. She helped the LVs close out this game.

I know I will receive a rash of crap, but Russell has not elevated her game. I know she receives double and triple coverage but she lacks the aggressiveness of even our freshmen. She should be in the middle of all rebounds. I highly doubt that Holly is telling Russell to be a spectator while other players are trying to get rebounds. Right now I see Nared as being more valuable for the team then Russell. Norte Dame is down to 7 players and they are still aggressive.

I didn't "joke" about anything. I said their undefeated record was largely due to a less challenging schedule. YOU tried to turn the comment into something negative which I never said nor implied.

As far as venom just giving you back some of the negativity you are continually known for. Wanna hear a different song then change your own tune first!

Our team needs to watch MSST a lil to see how they play with McCowan and get her quality touches. Plus MSST was the last team to beat Uconn. Ijs.

The jury is still out on Russell. I see more activity than in previous years, especially on the defensive side of the ball. She has never been itimiditator in the paint, but players will start thinking twice now and we never had that before on defense, a rim protector.

Yes, her activity on the boards needs to improve, she usually standing straight up which makes her easier to box out, so now jumping and landing, you can tell she doesn't feel comfortable, cos would see her just standing, I get don't want to get undercut, those falls can be nasty for 6'6".

She needs to be in power position more (more bent knees) standing straight up is also a sign of fatigue for bigs, in that case Holly should, get Green minutes when she see this, from Russell, and that would reinforce to Russell, what she wants, and then Russell can play more power basketball, cos she doesn't feel like she has to play safe.

Russell game is elevating on the defensive end, rebounding (dicey) and scoring (still our best option when she gets the ball in her spots). But when she puts it all together, you will be glad she is a Lady Vol.

Nared is solid.

I’d like to see Davis become more physical next year and play at the four. She’d be a match up nightmare. That frees up our 1-3 rotation.

You did not mention Jasmine???? By Green you mean (London)?? Or Zarelle??? I do believe Collins is the most important because we lose Mercedes and London, Kasi, Harris, are all suspect as starters in the SEC. Based solely on rankings you would expect Zarelle and Jasmine to contribute immediately? If Burrelle is what you say.... that would be a bonus. JMO

Jasmine will have the toughest road, but she won't be counted right on away. I just like the mentality of Rae (Zarelle) or Rae or Burrell, and with our four guard lineup I can see all three getting time. Jasmine is fine, I like her game, similar to Meme coming out of high school.

Mind you, I think all the ladies will contribute eventually, but feel like Zay and Rae some will contribute faster than others.

KK needs to develop over this season and the summer. I think Collins is a much better offensive player at this point even if she is still in High School. She has really up her scoring this season averaging 16 a game and they play a lot of low scoring games in her league.

Yeah, that's where/when we can expect to see the most improvement in Kasi's game.

If she puts in the work we would nice, but our guard play should be strong enough to keep us in games.

Her and Green battling all summer should be nice.
