Game Thread Lady Vols vs Notre Dame

It is like the tv analyst said--we don't have any leadership, and we don't have any maturity, and when things go wrong we can't slow down and regroup. ND plays the smartest basketball in the country every year--and they absolutely school us because we are not very well coached. It doesn't help that ND has shot out of their minds--but I think they are one of the best shooting teams in the country. One reason is that they are an outstanding passing team. One year, in the distant future, UT will learn to pass well for an entire game. We will all be dead by then, but at some point it's got to happen.

Total collapse. We missed so many 8 foot shots and unforced turnovers. We really didn't have an answer when they started collapsing in the post. We had the shots we don't have anybody who can step up and make them. After we missed 9 in a row we started turning it over. Game.

Good game plan in the first half, but when they clogged the lane in the second we couldn't make simple easy shots just amazes me. We have two or three highly rated players that can't shoot a lick.

Not sure she's the biggest problem tonight.

no Simmons isn't the biggest problem tonight, they can't stop the 3 pt shots and can't pass the ball worth a crap in the 2nd half, now as to why this is showing up so bad in the 2nd half,i have no idea

Worst coaching job so far this year, Cuonzo Martin or Holly Warlick?

Martin...BUT...huge BUT. The remaining schedule for the LV include a date with Florida this Thursday, at Texas A&M on Sunday and then Arkansas on the 30th. Those all are three tough games. If they get railed in the last 10 minutes of this one I can just the girls packing it in for the remainder of the season.

No Simmons has actually played a decent game. Far less bad shots than usual. We can't guard anybody when they got those three threes in a row we just quit.

The one thing I blame on the coach is that she said we had really spent a lot of time on defense and that is that is really hard to tell. I don't think we can guard anybody very well.

You can tell TN read all week that they don't pass well and so they came out with something to prove in the first half and actually did that pretty well, but it's hard to get a tiger to change its stripes. What we are seeing the 2nd half is the real TN. The team that doesn't pass well and isn't coached to either. I don't see a demonstrative leader on ND's sideline. I just see better coaching.

Not that upset expected this season to be a lot like last season and it will. We need some consistent shooters on this team. Massengale and Simmons are streaky shooters hot and cold. I look forward to Middleton, Dunbar, Nared, and Tucker they seem to have been consistent throughout their high school careers.

She finally get Reynolds back in the game and she starts making the great lob passes. Where has she been in the second half? On the bench.

I dislike playing the "Pat would have" game, but Pat was probably the best coach alive at imposing her will on her teams. A lot of people claimed she sucked for losing at all those FFs in the early 2000s, but I always viewed it as a testament to how great a coach she was - even in years they should have been retooling, UT rolled into Final Fours because Pat squeezed a level of effort out of those teams which was improbable. She drove a level of defensive commitment which bailed UT out of a lot of tight games. But that was Pat.

Now, I feel like I don't know what I see. I don't know if its Holly. I really don't. Parity has been coming for a long time -- can't just put on jerseys and automatically win games like teams once did. But whatever it is you need to win, UT doesn't have it right now. Whatever it is they are, whatever it is they want to be, we haven't seen it yet. Or, maybe we have.

Left the game with five minutes left sorry for our team they came out ready to play but they are not mentally tough. They made a few we missed 9 in a row and we called it a night.
