Game Thread: LADY VOLS VS. OLE MISS

Was there at Thompson Bowling. Had a great time but our team had a ho him kind of lakadasical attitude. Enjoyed meeting you Coach Jumper and so did Glenn.
Beating ole miss like a drum has been done. We simply worked on what we haven't done well, and that is respectful on senior night , and against a squad that clearly knew they couldn't win, but trying to get better. Ole Miss will rise under this coach

She moved so much her screen was more of a fence...Elbows out on every screen, if she had any offense, watching her and KK was like a WWE match.,,,She had so many nicknames tonight:,,, Tank, Sasquatch, Screendoor,,etc
I want to believe that officials were willing to let them go because it was Ole Miss and they wanted to give them a chance to keep this a game. Just like they called several fouls on us on their drives because again kind of a sympathy thing.

Ole Miss may be the worst team in Div 1 if we don’t win by 50 there is issues to be concerned about.
No need to destroy a team that can't meet you, hats of to kellie to use this to correct season long mistakes, like, low entry passes to post, she did that, movement, they did that, finding post where post is effective, wr did that, rebounding, not as much as I would hope but expanded lineup was first focus. Let me say, as UT grad, Kamila Harris has proven to be a role model, beautiful, smart, young Lady Vol, she paid her dues, and gurl is a proud, excellent member of family, whstever she does, she knew it was uphill, and good for her succeeding in all her parts of being a Lady Vol class act

Smallvol and I both knew we wouldn't get any calls as long as Brian the head zebra was calling that game.

Ole Miss has been playing a lot better the last couple of games. I knew it wasn’t going to be a blowout

In their last three games they've lost by margins of 15, 42, and 44. I've been following SEC women's basketball for decades. If there was ever a worse team than this one, I can't recall it...

I saw it the same way. Well said, I do like their coach. She seems to have a great attitude. I felt her team really played hard as well, they are just plain outmatched in the SEC right now. She has a great class coming in, they will be dangerous in a year or two. This league is getting really tough!

Also for those this game you couldn't go over the screen when officials allow the screener to throw hip everytime

Not without getting the absolute crap beat out of us. Likely instructed to go under to save their legs and bodies.

I thought Tamari looked looser, more energetic tonight, she was jumping while shooting, not standing flat footed. She caught passes at the top of her reach, hit 5 of 6 free throws, got 17 points and 7 rebounds, nice night for Tamari.

It was a nice game for Key. Glad she hit that FT for a career high. She was positioning herself better for her shots but Ole Miss did not have much post presence. So, a positive sign but now the test is to put up points when she is facing more size and talent.

I've been advocating for Lou all year but sadly, she's become literally painful to watch. She's literally dragging that leg like its in a cast. I was really hoping she'd have a good game tonight but she hasn't hit a three in forever and has started making t.o.s. Not sure the other things she contributes are worth a starting role anymore. Hate it and still think she can make positive contribution but I'm afraid poor Lou is out of gas.

Lou has never had much lift but her threes looked like she was getting nothing from her legs. Definitely seems like a dramatic reduction in her minutes is needed for Auburn and probably the SEC tournament. And if the LVs make it to the NCAA (yeeeek), hopefully, she will have found a second wind on the season.

Mississippi Guard Mimi Reid -- "We knew the weaknesses of Tennessee, and we knew we should just keep going and going and eventually they would fold, so we made our run."

hmmmm, if I was a player, I think I would be concerned that opponents expect my team to "fold"

I also think Lou playing time needs to be reduce cut in half. But KJH will not go there she will roll the dice and keep her in the starting lineup.

I winced when I heard that last night. But in hindsight, Reid may have given the Lady Vols a gift by saying it, and the timing is perfect.

Kellie should send Mimi Reid some flowers with a nice “Thank you” card.

Impressed with Jessie's quick release from the corner. Pretty much a catch-and-shoot.

Honestly, Rennie has the opposite of quick release. She needs to be wide-open to get her shot off, although that may be changing. I was really happy to see her make a ball fake and when the defender bit, she took a dribble to the right and shot. Unfortunately, the ball rattled out but it was decent look she created and that is something she has not shown in prior games. So, I am pleased to see her development. She can knock open shots with good consistency and she is figuring out to create the space she needs to get her shot off.

Off season, actually developing a quicker release should be a major point of emphasis.

That was one of the highlights of the game for me. I thought, “Now this... THIS is a new development I’ve been hoping to see!”

I’m encouraged by it.
