Game Thread Lady Vols vs South Carolina

DD is a good street ball player. She is one of those players if you watch a pick up game everyone goes oooooh!, aaaaaah! But, then when she's on a real team they lose.

Lol! Are you serious? DeShields is one of only 3 players in the state of Georgia to win 3 state championships in high school. I think Mya Moore and Te'a Cooper are the other two. If she's that bad than why did almost every program in the country wanted her including UConn? DeShields needs better coaching, that's the problem. This young lady was unstoppable at the high school level, AAU level and looked much better at UNC. Do you have something against her that is personal? I hope you are joking because I bet you this young lady goes on and have a spectacular pro career. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes and I think the problem is the coaching.

We were leading in the first half until DD came into the game. We regained the lead in the second half and then lost it when DD came into the game and never regained it. Take it for what you will. Some players are great and make their teammates better. Some players are great and are a cancer on their team.
Man, you are very bitter, is it personal, did DD turn you down for the High school prom or something?

They were leading because SC played their worst half of bball all season. Once Wilson got hot, and Mitchell had her little spurt, it was game over. That had nothing to do with Diamond.

Look at the boxscore and you see how the rest of the backcourt contributed nothing to this game. Andraya went 35 minutes without a field goal. Jaime even longer.

As long as Andraya and Jordan are playing the kind of minutes they've been playing, this team is going nowhere. They are not a championship-team caliber backcourt.

We might have had something to do with them playing their worst half of basketball. Regardless, we were leading.

LOL yes. Not comprehending what I'm writing. Holly is not the coach for her. Maybe she had a good coach in HS. She is not elevating her team or her teammates.

you think this team is "much better" without Diamond? let's see...the score tonight without Diamond's 21pts (SC 62, TN 35). Diamond shot 41% from the field (7/17), Graves (33% - 2/6), Russell (25% - 2/8), Nared (33% - 1/3), Carter (20% - 1/5), Cooper (33% - 2/6), Reynolds (25% - 1/4), Moore (a whopping 66% on 2/4 shooting, in 6 minutes). I say Diamond needs to keep shooting until she finds her rhythm. Having sat out a year, she's still getting back into form. Without Diamond, this team would have been ranked about 50 already in all polls. I agree with you on one point: Holly's not the coach for her. Is Holly the coach for anyone? Not this team. I'm not a huge fan of Nia Moore, but she did have 4pts in 6 minutes, while Russell had 5pts in 37 minutes. Shouldn't the coach (Holly) have realized that she wasn't getting much out of Russell and tried something different? Holly keeps doing the same thing and expecting different results. Hand this same team of young lady's over to a good coach and it's a national title contender. In Holly's hands, they're just ordinary. May as well get rid of Lockwood too. When was the last time he developed a post player????

What was DD? 7/17. The offense becomes dysfunctional when she comes into the game.

What is it about Diamond that infatuates you so? Is it the 30% shooting or all the turnovers? Or is it the petulance and haughty attitude? Yeah, she must be good.

She's not good, she's great! If you saw her at UNC, you'd see how easy it came to her. She took over games and had teammates that complemented her very well. Yeah, she still had that attitude and sometimes that made me not like her too much, but I can't overlook that she's an awesome player, in the right atmosphere.

How can she elevate the team when there's no structure, no offensive system, no emphasis on offense at all, no player development and the head coach is clueless? Like I said there's things that goes on behind the scenes and I think the main issue is COACHING. Diamond is NOT the issue it is COACHING. Don't be surprised if there be a couple of transfers this off-season. It has nothing to do with DeShields. All I will say is that these kids are not stupid and they know they should be getting prepped and developed much better. They want to win. Not go down as one of the worse Tennessee Lady Vols teams in history.

DD has her issues, but I promise you even if she doesn't play at all this team doesn't all of a sudden become a scoring machine- the biggest problem with the Ladyvols is at the top. But I'm sure Holly is loving everyone blaming the players instead of her. I'm sure she's going to Hart now and saying " see, I'm not the problem, I just need a contract extension and a few more years."

DD leads the team at 0.138 turnovers per minute, Cooper and Middleton are second and tied at 0.117 turnovers per minute. No one else is really close to those three. Dunbar is the lowest at 0.03 turnovers per minute.

Oh didn't know Diamond was a part of the coaching staff and that it was her responsibility to develop players and make them better. could have sworn that was the responsibility of both the head coach and the assistant coaches just like it's their responsibility to scout, recruit and sign players.

I don't like to bash players, and have refrained from doing so for a long time, but when there is a player on the team that has a questionable Attitude problem to begin with, then her father publicly criticizes the head coach on SOCIAL MEDIA; that player becomes the focus of a lot of negativity, especially when that player is playing poorly, and sometimes selfishly.

I just had to channel my inner Barbara Streisand and sing this sad song once again
Memories.... Like the corners of my mind misty watercolor memories of the way we were.... Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind smiles gave while hanging up banners of the way were. Can it be that it was all so simple then or has time re written every line.. If we had a better coach could we win it all again.. Tell me could we? would we? Memories may be beautiful and yet what's to painful to to remember this season we can't forget!!!!!! So it's the banners we will remember whenever we remember THE WAY WE WERE..... THE WAY WE WERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After watching the game last night it`s clear to me this team is not a NCAA tournament team. So i have decided to stop watching this team for the remainder of the season.

:mf_surrender:

Other than the TOs, Diamond had a great game. Played well on offense and defense. 21 points on 17 attempts is good offensive efficiency.

Russell seemed gassed at times and who could blame her. Throwing smaller, fresher bodies at Coates and Wilson would have been more effective.

Once again, TOs and points off TOs were the difference in the game.

Russell finally showed that she was worth a scholly, the stuff she had on Wilson early in the game was awesome. Smaller bodies thrown at Coates & Wilson would have been eaten alive.

Tn got beat for the same reason they have already been beat this year. Their Head Ball coach has them confused on offense and ineffective under pressure with non scorers playing too long when Tn gets behind. Dunbar needs time on the court to get in the flow. She can't come in 10 pts down with a minute left.

if we give dd her ticket out as some would suggest, jasmine j gives it up, graves and moore graduate, and kd finally has had enough, and oh yeah no newbies, where do the ladies finish in the sec next year?
