Game Thread: Lady Vols Vs Texas A&M, Thurs Jan 2nd ; Away game; 8 PM Eastern; SEC+ stream win 91-78

Same as the Memphis game the way the games are call on the road impacts the outcome.
I still don’t understand how anyone sees a 13-point win as close.
I mean Texas beat Richmond by 11 on the road.
Tennessee scores 90+ again on the road and beats a SEC team by 13 points in a poorly officiated game.

The second half was an abomination. I know the style gives up a lot of easy baskets to set a tempo, but, damn, we gave up a **** ton of layups to a really terrible team.

Only got to catch the 4th Q live and was almost unwatchable with a fouls called what seemed like every play. Ridiculous.

AC has killed UT at Auburn and now Texas AM. It's unreal, her best games each year seem to against UT.

Might not have been a pretty win, but scoring 90 plus on the road is not easy to do. Plenty of tape to watch and get ready for back to back home games against top 10 teams. I am hoping 13 plus thousand show up.

Puckett with 16 minutes of play: 0 points, only 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 turnovers. She's the only player on the team with a negative game score value.

Darby didn't collect a single full minute at all in the 4th QTR. That's odd. I think she was in very briefly, got a foul called on her, then coach had her on the bench for the entirely of the game after.

I'm truly disappointed Kim hasn't played more of her bench. If for no other reason than to have some other players get some of the fouls called on them instead of the first 10.

Girl our team is the bench. The bottom 4 aren’t going to play much in the SEC. This is the first season in years we have an actual bench though.

FWIW, in an earlier game we had a ref crew that made a bunch of traveling calls. When I got to watch the video, they were actually calling it by-the-rulebook. [which totally confused the players]

I don't know if that's the case tonight, but 75% of basketball movement with the ball today is taking place outside the rulebook.

Who ever they are they have post one video for each quarter.
1,2,3 quarters
Now they just unloaded the four video of the four quarter.
All four quarter are there now.

Painful to watch.

Poor defensive position on drives. lots of mental mistakes really need cleaned up.
This s great game to learn from. They did not play well at all and still got the win. Hopefully this game puts a fire under their behinds for Oklahoma and LSU. They gave up all those points against Liberty earlier in the season and came back and played like a different team the next couple games...

I am happy that the Lady Vols won but they have got to improve their paint defense. They gave up over 40 points in the paint. Most of the time they were outmuscled and out-hustled in the paint. This was not one of their better games, however, they won. That says a lot about this team. The Oklahoma game will tell us a lot about this team and how good the CKC system is against a top-10 team.

VolBall, c'mon... do you seriously think that our 11 and 12 girls are so much worse than our 8, 9, and 10 girls that we shouldn't be looking to get fresh leg minutes out of them in the 2nd half? Seriously. I mean, nobody is saying to take Talaysia or Whitehorn out of the game for Wells or Strickland. But we SHOULD be putting our bench 4 in the game in place of Boyd, Latham, Hollingshead... it's a flat mistake to give those girls 0 minutes when they could be an impactful ""6th man"" for our sluggish starting 10 late in the game. [especially since some of the girls get more sluggish than others]

Why do you say that??????

Beware of the posters in this forum that are engagement farming.
One said some nonsense about the 2nd half and giving up layups when Tennessee literally wasn’t allowed to even play solid defense without a foul being called for 20 straight minutes.
Another one said some nonsense about what post players from two teams will do against us that right now on national tv look like they are running in mud.

An SEC win on the road is a good win especially when you are playing 5 A&M players and three refs

We've been spoiled. I was thinking it was a close game, then realized they were four scores down.

This second half was great i mean great. Kim gets to coach her team showing them what's she has been preaching but now they can see it on tape. A&M was more athletic than I thought and played with great intensity never quiting. But in the end Lady Vols still unbeaten. Now let's get ready for Sooners and fill the Arena. In CHRIST Alone
