Yes obviously people like that post here. Because there are comments like that here all the time. OBVIOUSLY.

Oh but she has a degree from Hah-vahd, don'tcha know? LMAO

I never said they cared more about it. However, it can certainly be used in negative recruiting, especially given the fanbase's penchant for demanding a coaching change every time a team loses, which can lend an air of instability. The women's program is perfectly stable, but other programs will use whatever fodder they can to try to sway a recruit.

If you believe some recruits don't take notice of how a certain element of the fan base completely disrespects the coach, and in such a vicious manner, then you need to think again. It's very off-putting and utterly uncalled for.

For a fact recruits and their families do read message boards and it does come into consideration when choosing a school. However if you look at message board for Alabama, LSU, Florida and other big school, theirs are worse. Not that it make it any better.

There is no stage like Tenn anywhere, well Uconn, some freshman know how to embrace the big stage, for some they never will, for some it happens later, its too early to write off Cooper.

Agreed. It is also how you handle the freshmen and the position you put them it.

Ivyleague. If you think this message board affects recruits PLEASE remove or edit your post. Your post could be hurtful to recruits, and also to players on our team.

There is no need to advertise one fan's hurtful comment.

There is a certain intrinsic value n knowing the X & Os and putting your team in good positions to succeed. I keep hearing the team and coaching staff says they are "conditioned" to go inside. That can't be the only solution, especially if it takes away from the flow of a game. I've watched all six games. First game, they played defense and up tempo offense (very few sets = solid win). Since then a lot of standing around and no in game adjustments to offset.

Tenn could've won this game.... They got the steals and stops they just didn't convert.. It really bothers me that our post were shut down I mean Boyette really didn't take it to Mercedes either but her team did get her touches, Diamond is getting her groove back she really tried to carry this game hopefully this was the wake-up call that they needed they should be about 10-11 in the poll

To all recruits and parents who may be reading this hot mess of a message board: Do not take the drivel posted here seriously. Please. Tennessee has a passionate fan base. Unfortunately, there are some fans who don't have a clue. If they had their way, there would be a new coach in every sport for every game. They are perpetually dissatisfied and always think they know best as they sideline coach from their couches and nosebleed seats. Today, I sat in front of a man and woman who kept up an annoying commentary throughout the entire game. It was obvious they didn't know a thing beyond what they wanted to be true of the players, coaches, or game plan (not what was actually true). At the end of the game when it was obvious the game was lost, Holly called a time out. Their question was, why bother? They never considered the fact that Holly was teaching. But the real winner was when the man wondered aloud why Holly hadn't played the "white girls." Those are the same people who wind up here. Take it with a grain of salt.

I think the frustration with calling TO at the end is connected to all the other moments in the game when a TO was warranted and not called. Some coaches allow mature teams to figure their way out of bad game situations; by Coach Warlick own admission her team is not at that level. Coach has to lead.

Middleton played you sure the idiot fan wasnt drunk ?

Wow. This was ugly. Our players are not simply as good as we think they are. The only players who has proven herself, is no one. I realized a couple of things watching this game.

Reynolds, Dunbar, Middleton, Jones, Graves, Nia and Carter are average players at best, they have reached near their ceiling, and all it is is a mindset.

Our team is talented on paper only, we have a lot of work to do; former All Americans, my ass, how??? See why, I don't buy into rankings.

Nared, Deshields, Cooper, Meme, are the only unknowns, and Russell, from everyone else, I know what I'm going to get, which isn't much. Meme need to be getting more minutes.

Diamond is back, it was her coming out party, she had no help, the only Lady Vol who played with a sense of urgency.

Even as poorly as we paid, we still had an opportunity to win this game. This season will hinge on the play of our guards and right now our guard play sucks.
What a quote, how can you pile this load on the players and not once mention this horrible coaching staff. These players you mention are kids. Put the blame where it should be place...Holly and Company!

Russell was on the perimeter blocking, instead of in the paint doing what she does well

Only saw the end of the 2nd quarter and most of the second half. My quick observations:

  • Both teams were really, really sloppy. Texas won, but they have nothing to be really proud of.
  • Lady Vol offense just doesn't have enough movement away from the ball (this one is on Holly)
  • Free throw shooting - YIKES. The young kids should watch this game as an example of what NOT to do
  • DD was really limping at the end of this one - not good at all
  • While I agree that Holly gets heat over this, the players have to make shots and better decisions too
  • Did I mention how sloppy both teams played?

Diamond scored 21 today because she is a volume shooter and a ball hog. She is a guard and had a grand total of one assist! She never has and never will play team ball. She wants to play one-on-one and figures if she chucks up enough shots, one will eventually go in. She only shot 41% today (still better than the team's 30%, but not very good).

I think this criticism may have had validity during her UNC days, but the team needed her to take over today if they were to have a chance.

This is a team with many glaring deficiencies, one of them being that they're not much fun to watch.

I sadly have to agree that the basketball was extremely sloppy and not a joy to observe. Really just frustrating because you KNOW they can do better.

The ND game will be a slaughter if they don't pick it up a few notches quickly.

"I think we can use this as a positive. There's always the cliche of 'It's not what happens, but what you learn from it and how you respond from it.' We were setting ourselves up for this. Our games leading up to this, we should have won by way more. We were winning by close margins the whole time when we were just more talented than those teams. We came up against a team that was equally as talented as us. They played together, and they beat us. I think this just shows that while you can beat some teams not playing the way you're supposed to, you can't beat the top teams. This is a lesson that we need to learn, and hopefully we'll learn from it." said Carter.

I find this encouraging that the players are "owning" at least some of the blame for this loss. What she is saying is that they did not play as a team, which was evident to those watching.

Maybe this will be the wake-up call for the players to pick up their game. The last 10 min just looked like street ball (for both teams) which will not end well in most cases.

I saw Holly's after game interview. She was doing a great job of imitating Ray Charles with her head going side to side. These are the jewels she left us in the aftermath of a butt kicking:
1. You have to block out
2. We did not get it done
3. We have got to do it better
4. When you get it inside you have to shoot
5. The players were not on the same page
6. The players took some poor shots
7. They had some good looks but could not make their shots
8. We have got to make our outside shots to open it up for Russell and Graves
9. We got the talent

Not much that we did not know because it is a continue saga. We know the problems and the McDonald All Americans on our team, the question is how do we get issues fixed? Plain and simple most of the issues are coaching issues.

I definitely think the lack of offense and movement away from the ball fall primarily on HCHW. However, most of what she says above is really true as well. For whatever reason, the team played really poorly and a lot of that is on the girls themselves.

Alexa played and Kortney was in warmups with a great big boot on her foot, don't see how anyone could expect her to play. Maybe ivy misunderstood what the "fans" said, or maybe they were both drunk and stupid. Agree with other posters, if it was said, it should not have been posted.

Lady Vol fans love all our Lady Vols...we just sometimes expect an awful lot from them. They are all exceptional young women and superior athletes. We need to remember what has represented, and still is representing, our program...young women of whom we can be very proud. Let's focus on that.

Go Lady Vols!

Beautiful post, SM#1. I for one have chosen not to respond to non-intelligent posters directly. Many of us are extremely proud of our undergraduate degrees from UTK, and this one has major post-grad work from another Ivy-league institution in the largest city in America, where I worked for two decades. I've seen the LVs in arenas all across this great country, and my affiliation with my home state university has been met with nothing but admiration, sans CT (let's not discuss)!

I would never repeat any off-color comment any fan, ours or otherwise, on this board. I love and respect the team too much and always will. If our current or past LVs read this board (who knows?), how do you think our beautiful African American players feel when they see what a certain so-called Holly lover (if Holly goes methinks she'll disappear, too ... just a hunch) posted. This poster is more concerned about making a point than truly respecting and caring for "our" program. Her action prove this.

Please ignore such self-centered ignorance going forward.

The Holly issue, potential recruits' families, will work itself out. If she can't get the job done, Tyler Summitt will come to the rescue. Your daughter, granddaughter or sister couldn't play for a finer, classier, more dedicated and caring young Christian man currently in this profession. Your young lady can help him build the next dynasty on the Rock, on the SUMMITT court!

Yes, I'm starting the recruiting process for Tyler now. Step aboard the express now.

Go LVs, and take over this team now, Diamond!

If you notice when a player makes a poor decision over over and over again all she do is stomp her feet why . What she needs to do is start being a in your face coach. Stomping your feet is for kids Holly.

One last observation: I realize it's early in the season, but I perceived that the girls were gassed/tired in the fourth.

I understand they were running like crazy, but I would think the conditioning might be a bit better, even this early in the season.

Trixietrouble Nia, Alexia & Meme weren't tired in the 4th, because Holly left them hanging on the bench while Cooper Carter & Jordon were throwing bricks and leaving their opponents wide open for shots. :(
