Game Thread: Lady Vols Vs Vandy ; Sun Jan 19th ; Away game; 3 PM Eastern; SEC+

If you read their body language they don't like it . Maybe reason they are not playing defense like they do in the second half. I think our talent level starts to drop off after the #7 or 8 players. At that time CKC needs those other players in spot roles. I like the idea of pressing and play full court defense and keeping fresh legs in the game. Just need the right 5 on the floor when doing it.
Ive always said if we gone sub like that and play 2 teams the 2 teams need to be equal which means whithorn, cooper, or jewel need to be with the second group we always need a scorer on the floor

Always believed that too. More so a starter and a backup at every position.

PG- Spencer Boyd
SG-Spear Darby
C-Spearman Hollingshead
WF-Cooper Whitehorn
PF-Latham Puckett

Always playing the same position not a different position and you always could have three top players on the floor and two subs. The main thing I like is a player always playing the same position so they can become really effecitve playing it and know their role 100 percent. The WG and WF are certainly interchangable in the womens game and the roles are very similar so you could use any two of the players I list in there at anytime. I hate the four guard unless the other team is playing that way. Always like two bigger players in there to get the boards.

Not sure I'd want to see both Darby and Puckett on the same rotation.

I find myself wishing we were seeing some of Puckett's minutes going to Ayodele. I even like Strickland's energy when she's in.

They wouldn't have to be they just qualify as backups.

One of the first laws of fandom is that the player who is not playing much is always the player who would make all the difference.

However, coaches generall know who they should be playing, since their jobs on the line (as per "if only Kellie would play Pissott" from two seasons again)

Our best five is clearly Coop, Spencer, Spear, Spearman, and Whitehorn (though we are giving up some size).

The other subs have strategic roles.

Boyd as back-up PG (and Wynn's loss is really felt here though it is great for Boyd in the long wrong).

Jillan and Latham for Spearman, as both bring some size and athleticism; Puckett comes in to provide some size, an inside post presence (and the threat of the 3 though she has been struggling with her shot). Tess for 3 pt. shooting. That is a 10 person rotation which is pretty extensive.

The problem is that Ayodele and Strickland don't bring size and are lesser versions of what we get with the guards listed above.

They are not bad players but they aren't bringing any distinctive skills and talents to the mix. I think they could fill in adequately in the event of an injury but that is there role. There is no reason to expect that giving them more time over anyone in the core 10 would be a net gain for the team.

That's not me...Though I have chosen to no longer attend games due to what I perceive as a break from Summitt's traditions, I hope the Lady Vols do well. Because of the LVBHC, I got to know several players before the coaching change and want to see them succeed.

I only post when I see some clown like 'KnoxLikeUs' trying to denigrate Kellie and the previous staff with ridiculous statements such as "100%. NIL funds weren’t magically deposited into the LVs WBB account 8 months ago". I was very involved with the LVBHC and am keenly aware, despite Terri Holder's best efforts to raise NIL funds, that we were not competitive with our elite recruiting competition. The Volunteer Club got involved when Caldwell was hired and now makes the Lady Vols competitive in NIL funds to be in the conversation with top recruits.
So your no longer a LadyVols fan?

We are upset over the loss to Vandy, and it was not a good loss, however, I see at least three more SEC losses coming up with Texas, LSU and So. Carolina. I believe they will play Texas a good game and might win in an upset. So Carolina is another matter which will be great talent and good coaching verses pretty good talent and a coach who is trying to get her players to play up to the best of their abilities. This team is a rebounder and I believe they will rebound from this loss to Vandy. Second shot at LSU could produce another loss, however, the Lady Vols have proven they can play with LSU.

From what I'm seeing in Texas as they play Maryland as I type, it wILL be a really, REALLY tough row to hoe against them. Their defense is smothering and relentless, and they still look fresh a-quarter-and-a-half in. I don't think we can count on them to wear down, nor give us many unguarded, open shots.

Our Lady Vols better wear their big-girl pants that day. 😲
