I don't usually address the quality of reffing, but MTSU has had 0, that's right 0, fouls called on them in the 4th quarter. If their defense was anywhere near that soft, the Lady Vols should have 50 points already this quarter!

Makes me suspect it was less of a DEI hire and more of a performance based hire (Non basketball related, blonde ref is making someone happy).

Good win. A lot of room to improve, but also a lot of hustle out there to secure the cushion, and hustle is worth its weight in gold. Always happy to see Tennessee send the Fighting Insells back to middle Tennessee with an L.

The way the 2nd half called is the only reason MTSU scored 75 & hung in there.

They’re a quality team though, very efficient and selective with their shots.

I don’t know what this even means.. this team forces more 10 second violations, steals, turnovers than any LV team in several years.

Are they consistent? No. But what team would be with several newcomers, a new head coach, and entire new coaching staff?

I’ll say right now this team is playing at about 70% of its full potential which is as good as they could hope for.

Honestly that is not saying much as our last several years of LVs have not been very good on D.

Our first two games this year were against teams that were overmatched athletically so they should have dominated in all phases.

MTSU is an increase in competition but not to the level of SEC athleticism. Our press has barely resulted in 10 TOs this game.

Agree, it is still early in the season and being aggressive in press takes time to understand & see how the other team attacks it. Definitely can improve but we just look slow in double teaming the ballhandler and our middle rover has been late on every pass over the top. As athleticism of competition improves, quick decisions and angles become very important to a successful press.

I remember many years we were lucky to shoot 30% FG. I’m pleased with 41.

Have to wait and see how good a team MTSU is lost a couple players from last year. Just glad to win shooting 41 percent. The three and winning the boards and turnovers carried us through.

Honestly we will probably lose the shooting percentage battle more often than we win it this year.

I don’t think Kim cares. The system is about getting superior shot *volume* which, to a certain extent, allows you a chance to win with an inferior shooting night.
