We have a Latham sighting, I was waiting on that.Your not getting it.. the few folks giving you a thumbs up are NVs. For months, over half of this board has tried to nitpick every single aspect of Coach Caldwell system.
Tonight, her team controlled the tempo of this game and won while still learning to play as a team in addition to ridiculous officiating.
The press did its job in this game as it will going forward.
I’m not trying to get in all that talk about stuff that is irrelevant, the press is going to cause havoc and has caused including tonight.
Boyd, Cooper, Latham, and Spencer made plays defensively tonight that they will make against any SEC team.
Exactly. We did what Kim’s system is set up for.Honestly we will probably lose the shooting percentage battle more often than we win it this year.
I don’t think Kim cares. The system is about getting superior shot *volume* which, to a certain extent, allows you a chance to win with an inferior shooting night.
More stellar play from Puckett. Dribble into no mans land, pick it up and then rifle a bad pass out of bounds. She has to get out of her own head. I refuse to believe she is this bad at basketball.
I am not a NV by any means. I think CKC system has real promise if executed effectively. I understand this team can & will improve but to say that our press had a major impact on this game is overstating it. The MTSU PG handled our press pretty effectively. If you choose to press, the whole goal is to create TOs or leave 15 seconds or less to run half court offense. The LVs' press did not accomplish these goals enough tonight to be called effective in my opinion. You don’t get it.. the few folks giving you a thumbs up are NVs. those last three words of your statement, in your opinion. many others think it was effective and helped us achieve the win, me included.I am not a NV by any means. Also, the press is not just about turnovers. It's about wearing a team and using your depth and as someone said MTSUs legs were gone ergo all the free throw misses they took 27 missed 13, I think.Your not getting it.. the few folks giving you a thumbs up are NVs. Everything made it painful to watch. Clanged 3s, missed FTs (MTSU was awful), lots of tie up, and constant whistles. I'm still trying to find the fun and excitement in winning ugly. The officiating has made this painful to watch. Only reason MTSU is still in it.
Definitely seemed to back off midway thru the second half. I hope to God they're not "worn out" after 3 home games with constant subbing. If so, the celebrated conditioniing program needs a serious going over.Agreed. I wish we had footage of UNC, because I would bet money that the energy and pace from the team today is 120% of what we're seeing today. They're playing like they're worn out, which they might be given what's been said about how the team practices. Cardio on steriods.
Man it did. Reffing hasn't improved a whit this yr. Disappointing. But you have to adjust to it. They weren't allowing handsy tonight but Coop kept handing. It's a fine line, Lord knows you don't want to pour water on her aggresive fire. But she'll get a better feel for this as the season progresses. It's still very early.Since the Tech on son fouls have been one sided. It worked.
It's only that high bc Darby got a hot streak after starting cold. Sara also hit two in row so that helped the %. But we still have nothing approaching a consistent 3 pt shooter. I'm tempted to be optimistic about Spencer, but I'm afraid to. Jewel is not getting involved enough.anything above 33% is id say good. not great but good.
Slight touch of NV in a winning effort by a 3-0 team.I am not a NV by any means. I think CKC system has real promise if executed effectively. you can’t say it was only that high because of xyz…. they hit those shots, like they’ve shown they can do in the past. it wasn’t luck, those were their shots that they can hit.Everything made it painful to watch. Our half court D was plain ole awful tonight. Getting beat off the dribble repeatedly, and it ain't just Puckett and Darby. Exactly like the last couple of years. Hope that's all over the white board. Also a work in progress I hope.

Not great. But when you’re a foot taller than everyone else…..
I thought the press was really effective until we got in a little foul trouble. If you go back and watch we had to quit trapping when the fouls started racking up. Look at the start of the 3rd quarter. 6 pts before they got the ball past half court. Have to cut the fouls down on they will with more playing time.I am not a NV by any means. Think it was just a coaches decision tonight. We played 11 and Coach said that would be how many we would play. Probably look for just those players against better competition.Anybody know if Ace is injured/sick or had a discipline issue that kept her glued to the bench? She should have gotten some minutes with our foul trouble.
Agree the LVs were highly successful in spurts, now need to extend it to larger portions of the game. CKC whole point is to press the entire game and quicken the pace on both ends of the court to increase the number of possessions over the opponent. Most of the fouls on the press were from reaching to try and steal the ball. Not needed if they would double team and force a bad pass that results in a TO.I thought the press was really effective until we got in a little foul trouble.
