That’s one of the neutral site games I was referencing. My understanding is Tennessee would play Louisville and Connecticut will play Iowa in that event. Not sure if the champions classic was a two year deal or if something else came up that is causing us to repeat that trip, albeit in the bigger arena in New York City.

I don’t think anyone envisioned North Carolina Central would have had the injury problems they have had, which puts them in that 350 range instead of in the mid-100s.

That said, Tennessee avoided scheduling two games like this last year, and ended up two games under the minimum you could play, which caused some other problems in the net math. So the question is, are you better off not playing at all, or playing a game like this? They made the decision to play.

His tweets make me wonder what Danny's intended milestones for Kim are. I know she'll be on maternity leave at some point so that may effect our outcomes for the back half of this season, but if we can continue to make the improvements we need to, a deep tourney run is starting to feel like an actual possibility in the next few years.

Sounds like to me he’s echoing Coach Caldwell who has stated it takes awhile for her teams to learn this system.
They are already ranked which is something I don’t believe they anticipated back in November.
As a team they are continuing to move in the right direction and setting NCAA records.
Ranked teams are not looking ahead in the next few years they are focusing on winning right now.

If NC Central shouldn't have played UT, the team shouldn't have played Auburn, UNC, LSU, Georgia, and so on. Mulkey and LSU beat NCC 37 to 0 in the 2nd Q when they played. Obviously an SEC team should not have played this team. But each University did to help the NCC team pay a budget. Either get that or don't.

No they didn't. Pat would never have scheduled a team like this. Her late 90s/early 2000 teams sometimes won by 30 or 35, and once beat Vandy by 50 in an SEC tourney. But they didn't reach this far to the bottom of the barrel for games. This may have been the worse team I've ever seen the LVs play.


Yes of course. Why else would they take this kind of complete and utter humiliation? Some coach who's currently on the 50 pt loss tour was very honest about it just the other day after being crushed by LSU. Said of course it's awful but it's the only way she has to fund her program. She seemed totally torn down and I'm sure her kids are too.

I know some say these kids enjoy seeing a top tier program and it's a good experience for them. But it sure wouldn't be for me. I can buy a ticket to a top game, I can get a tour of the facilities. BUt none of it is worth being so totally ground to dust and reminded how far off you are from elite programs. Not in the same universe. I wish we wouldn't schedule out of 150 or so range.

I'm just really glad no one got hurt and I can't wait for the rest of preseason to be over. Scheduling has gotten far out of hand in all sports. This was like the football team beating Kent st 77-0. Records are great, but these almost need an asterisk.

We literally beat UTM 134-60 back in 99-00, so yes, Pat did the same thing. Please. Stop.

I've been going to games a long time. I don't ever remember playing as many really bad teams as this year. I'm sure it was due to circumstances and we won't do it again. I'm just more than ready for the real spirit of competition. This ain't it. They're 358th! My rule of thumb is we should never go below Carson Newman level.

While I agree with you in terms of at least scheduling some better teams than this, I didn't see anyone leaving the arena looking like they were in a foul mood. Me and my companion had a blast. So great to see everyone shoot the 3 so well, especially Destinee and Strickland. Yes, it was very poor competition, but Kim has been waiting for this to happen against anyone, and this was a good start. It was also good to see Samara play a near perfect game, including that amazing shot to end a quarter.

Great. Bring on the literal bottom of the NET. Kim Mulkey schedules rule. As a season ticket holder, I feel like the quality of the home schedule goes down every year already, while the prices go up.

I honestly think it pains him that he's having to wait longer than expected to say "I told you so." We're still undefeated and lots of eyes are on the program. Yes we're gonna lose some, but we're only getting better. CKC is our coach and this will always be her style of play.

Get used to it or cheer for another program.

I was blessed to be at this game, and I know all the buzz around me in 105 was positive. People were thrilled to see the team having fun again.

Anyone else notice has much better shape Wells is in from the start of the season? I know she literally was cleared when the season started so to see her now from a few weeks ago… yeahhh that strength and conditioning program is NASTY! That’s gonna be CLUTCH having her in Caldwell shape during the SEC season because it throws a wrench in that people haven’t really seen as she’s not been in many games yet.. she’s a baller. Look out.
