Why would that bother you? It's the same as Tennessee basketball players dedicating their play to an ill Pat Summitt even though that wouldn't help her either.

Agreed...and they only lost 4 games all year, but the Lady Vols had them beat last night. Ump missed the call at 3rd last night that would have ended the game. But it's over now & not dwelling on what could have been. UT softball will have a NC very soon. Very proud of the ladies on that team.

Hopefully the weekly's won't be back, they have had numerous chances to bring home a national title to Tennessee and have failed miserably. inexcusable. they won't make it back again. But i guess everyone loves mediocrity. The girls had a good season hooray! Whoopie..... Congrats to the girls for 2nd place.

The coaches got them to the series finals by managing this team throughout the year. They recruited the talent and got the best out of these players who were magnificent and proved a worthy adversary to the best team in the nation. Yet you diss their entire body of work for a loss in a 12 inning championship game?

I hope you put the same standard to your own performance.

When can we expect your suicide, Mr. Constant Disappointment?

you may not like what i said but i think it's a valid point how many times can you be so close yet so far away?? how much longer before we can win a national title in softball the players put in the effort but get denied because of poor last minute coaching decisions when it counts. Just like football did last season.

This could be the most stupid post I've seen on this site. Well, hell, the Weekly's can only get us into the championship series. They suck and are mediocre. Really?!?!

They played the team with the highest run production and lowest ERA in the nation, which happened to be rated #1 from week one. Yet the Lady Vols lost because of bad coaching?

It was a great season for the team to make it to the CG. They scored 3 runs in 19 innings. Herzog, Weaver, Larusa, or Billy Martin would have a hard time managing a win with that kind of output. They swung at a lot of bad balls, and left a lot of runners on base that could have won some games easily. How do you put that on coaching?

:twocents: I think that some of the calls that the umps made were some really bad calls especially those strike zone areas. I know one pitch Ellen made was just barely off the plate at the end of that 12 inning game for a strike & didn't get the call that would have ended the game. I've learned that in softball they have different zones for balls & strikes. And it seems to always be a delayed call when the ball is called a strike.

I agree that series wasn't their finest hour and we should have won that one, but the Weekly's weren't the ones who didn't get the hits and runs. That was on the girls. That being said, finishing second ain't that bad. It's better than sitting at home like a BB team or a FB team I know of.

Weeklys are terrific coaches; they've brought in good players from all over the nation & the Lady Vols team has shown brilliance & grit. That being said, the decision to bring the outfield IN during that first game with a lead in the 11th is mystifying. A "duh" moment.

Do you think perhaps the opponent might have something to do with the losses? The chances of beating Oklahoma were slim regardless of how well the coaches performed. It's not easy to win a championship given the number of teams going for that prize. You may have to face the possibility that the Lady Vols might never win one. So, I have a solution that can make you happy:

Don't pledge your allegiance to any one team. This year, you should have been rooting for Oklahoma. Imagine how happy you would now be!

Next football season, look at the polls and root for the pre-season number one rated team. If they should happen to falter, it's easy to abandon them and latch onto the new shining star. Oh, the glory of watching you're team's Johnny Football march down the field! When basketball season is upon us, make uconn your team.

With this method, you'll never again have to settle for second best.

You must be under 18 with so little experience in life to make this kind of comment.

Decisions in life aren't made in a vacuum. There are equal and opposite reactions. The Weekly's are extremely respected coaches. They are connected and have built relationships with the best high school travel teams, AAU teams, the USA National team, and perhaps most importantly with some of the best high schools in California.

Have they made mistakes? Sure, I've been critical of their pitching management over the years for sure. But know this, if in your fantasy world you get rid of the Weeklys, you will never get another coach worth the money in 10 years at Tennessee because the expectations will be looked at in the coaching community as unrealistic. Multiple SEC titles, multiple WCWS and fired? Championships are really hard to get and people who have played competitive sports at even the high school level know that.

Worse than that is you completely destroy our brand and network in California. Look at the rosters of the WCWS participants and understand why that is devastating to have to start over.

Yes, i will admit oklahoma was good, but greatest of all time? ha, see that is the problem i think tennessee is the greatest all time and want them to be. i guess i care too much. I think most of you are giving oklahoma to much credit. and that's a problem. When you concede to the other team being greater than you or your team you have already lost.

It WASN"T!! That plate umpire has been the biggest "homer" I've ever seenin a while. Called strikes against the LV that are 6 inches outside and balls on OU that are clearly strikes. This sorry excuse for an ump was going to make a difference, if given the opportunity, in OU's favor. I stopped counting the blatant missed calls against the LV batters by this point. In a close game tonight, we would not have had a chance. Given the OU "cheerleaders in the broadcast booth" for both games, this has been one of the most blatantly biased sports broadcasts I have ever seen in my brief 68 years. Still, a super run for our Lady Vols and congratulations to all. Many thanks, Ladies.

there seems to be a disconnect between what you think and what is reality. UT was not the best team this year, OU was. Losing in the finals does not make the season less of an accomplishment or mediocre. It's your fault if you can't appreciate what they just did (which included knocking out bama before the WCWS and annihilating UF) because they failed to bring home a NC.

We all think Tennessee is the greatest & that's why they made it to the WCWS this year. There's no guarantee once we get there we will win a NC. All of us knew but you that playing Oklahoma in the championship would be a hard road to win against them because Oklahoma is a better team at this point. We came in 2nd place of all those other teams in the nation, man.

. Tenn was not the best team. They played great and over achieved to get to the finals. Which is a great tribute to the players and coaches.
