It's disheartening to hear TN fans complaining about the umpires being "homers". First, none of the umpires are from anywhere near Oklahoma. I believe of the 6 umps, 3 are from California, 2 from Texas, and one from North Carolina. I'm not saying they got all the calls right, but just as many were likely missed for both teams. And, the TV is not the best perspective to make a judgement. It WASN"T!! That plate umpire has been the biggest "homer" I've ever seenin a while. Called strikes against the LV that are 6 inches outside and balls on OU that are clearly strikes. This sorry excuse for an ump was going to make a difference, if given the opportunity, in OU's favor. I stopped counting the blatant missed calls against the LV batters by this point. In a close game tonight, we would not have had a chance. Given the OU "cheerleaders in the broadcast booth" for both games, this has been one of the most blatantly biased sports broadcasts I have ever seen in my brief 68 years. Still, a super run for our Lady Vols and congratulations to all. Many thanks, Ladies.
The umpires selected are hard working and highly qualified. It's an insult to them to accuse them of taking sides.
What is more likely is that the fans vision is suspect. The desire to win compromises the signal from eye to brain.
Regarding the announcers - It's only natural that most of the talk would be Oklahoma based. They are the top team and the line up is filled with highly ranked players. Think back to when TN had Candace Parker and how much talk there was about her, and more recently about Brittney Griner.
It's also natural for them to speak of Oklahoma because of the recent tornado problems. Just like games in New Orleans and when Pat Summitt was diagnosed.
Besides, the players aren't hearing the broadcasters, so whatever they say makes no difference. If you want to hear how great Tennessee is, turn down the sound except for games that are broadcast by the Tennessee homers.
