Solid hire. Not a big splash name like Gruden so probably wouldn't affect this recruiting class like Gruden. But would probably do really well at UT.

Not as big of a splash as Gruden, but still a big splash.

I do love his ability to develop talent. Being one of the most talent depleted states in he SEC, it would definitely be a great hire

If whats being said about Gruden nolonger being an option is true, then this is the guy that Hart needs to be throwing money at. He's proven and since its pretty clear that its near impossible for us to out recruit Bama, UGA, and Florida then we need to out develop them. Patterson has been winning with "lesser" talent for a while now and that what were gonna have to do to win the SEC in the next few years.
Obviously he's my #2 because of this and Gruden in my #1 because he has the knowledge and would bring in big talent immediately. #3 would be Peterson because of what he's doe at Boise and the last name I'd be ok with is Strong. Strong because while he may not have had an undefeated regular season he also hasn't already proven that he can do nothing more than be mediocre in a mediocre conference like every other name being mentioned has.

I agree with you on one thing. strong is the last name I would be ok with.

And who would you prefer, Fedora, Golden, Butch Davis, Jimbo Fisher???
None of them have done any better than Strong. They've all been mediocre. The difference is Strong has solid ties to the SEC and has recent experience recruiting and coaching in the SEC so he would know what its gonna take to win.

I would take Patterson if those were my choices.

From what I read, Arkansas will interview Patterson after the season wraps up.

A lot of speculation that he ends up at Arkansas. If they hire Patterson I think that really ups the ante for UT and Auburn. Would be frustrating to see them get Patterson or Petersen.

If they get Patterson and we end up with Golden, Fedora, Strong, Davis, Jones or Smart, Hart needs to fired immediately after the announcement.
Thats what worries me about this "search", we are hearing nothing solid and what we are hearing is completely disheartening. If we don't have a chance for Gruden and Hart really has been just sitting around waiting to start interviewing then I'm really scared for the future of this program. Heck even if he thought he had Gruden locked up he should've at least been in talks with Patterson by now to secure a solid backup in case something would happen.
I just got this sinking feeling that Hart is slow playing this whole process until the few good coaches are gone and he can go hire the guy that he's wanted to hire all season, His Bama buddy Kirby Smart. Thats why he said mid dec, because he figures by then Peterson and Patteson will either have new jobs or bigger contracts and within 48 hrs of them signing those contracts will pop up with Smart. I hope I'm wrong but it just seems like Hart is jerking things around and then turning around and leaking lies to the media about Gruden wanting huge amounts of money and total control and other unreasonable requests.

If Gruden is worth 5.5-6 million as some think, why would Patterson not be worth 4.75 million? His staff at TCU is not a highly paid group and they play good enough defense, we could just about hire the whole group and be good to go.

7.5-8 million for the whole staff(HC included) and we would be set for next year. Make him say NO!!

If Arkansas gets Patterson they are going to be a force to be reckoned with...eventually.

Well I agree for the most part but we do have a couple of coaches I'd like to see stick around, Pittman and Graham. Other than those 2 he could fill the staff with whoever he wanted.

Ideally I would like to see both stay as well. IMO, you can't base your coaching hire on who would keep those 2 guys. I would like to think Patterson would see both guys did a hell of a job last year and would swap them for a couple guys from his staff who have not been with him as long.

Arky was a force to be reckon with under Petrino. It is exactly why I want BP as our next coach.

I'd take him. His indiscretions are every mans dream, or in my case reality. I just don't get caught riding a moped with a married woman. Morals be damned, coach em up! As long as NCAA infractions are avoided I could seriously CARE LESS who the coach is tagging.
