I'd take him. His indiscretions are every mans dream, or in my case reality. I just don't get caught riding a moped with a married woman. Morals be damned, coach em up! As long as NCAA infractions are avoided I could seriously CARE LESS who the coach is tagging.
This is what you, Tony Basilio and so many others just fail to comprehend. You CANNOT have a coach who has had a MAJOR off-the-field scandal, and telling bold faced lies to his superiors, holding 18-21yr old college kids accountable to stay out of trouble OFF THE FIELD.....or else!

That's a disaster in the making. Before the scandal, I'd be right there with you. But afterward....no dice. They FIRED HIM FOR THIS VERY REASON!!!

If Gruden is worth 5.5-6 million as some think, why would Patterson not be worth 4.75 million? His staff at TCU is not a highly paid group and they play good enough defense, we could just about hire the whole group and be good to go.

7.5-8 million for the whole staff(HC included) and we would be set for next year. Make him say NO!!

If Patterson wants to coach in the SEC, then the bidding war will drive the price up to $6 mil!

Like him but he's not going anywhere except Texas if and when Brown is shoved out.

Chris Petersen at Boise St would be a good one but he's put to rest going anywhere and Cal had his name in the mix.

It might, and I would hope UT would back out. If your going to make a man the highest paid coach in college football, you have to be sure he can beat the man sitting in that spot. If your going to pay a guy 6 million as of now.....it should be Kevin Sumlin. JMO

Patterson won't come due to religious beliefs. He is heavy into Scientology...

What does this have to do with anything? Is Tennessee a banned destination for Scientologists? Or are you implying that people here wouldn't accept him? Believe me, no one cares about the new coaches religion. After the Dooley debacle, we could hire a voodoo priest and no one would care if he can win.

Thought you were talking about Peterson, but my point still stands.

If that's what the market dictates then that's what he's worth... I think Patterson is easily worth $4.75-5.25M... If it went to $6M and Gruden was not in play, which I don't believe he is, then they should offer it...

Only problem that I see with bringing his whole staff is the fact that with exception of Eddie Williamson and Randy Shannon, they are all southwest guys. Most of them have never coached outside of Texas and Oklahoma.

If we were able to lure Patterson away from TCU, I could see him bringing Dick Bumpas (provided he doesn't stay and take over as HC) and Randy Shannon (as DC if Bumpas were to stay at TCU). The rest of the staff would have to be filled with coaches that are familiar with the SEC and can recruit this region.

I wouldnt mind having patterson at all. I am not sure we could get him away from TCU but it would be worth a shot..

What are Patterson's ties to Texas?.....besides coaching in the state I don't see anything. Am I missing something?

I think we should shoot for this guy. He has done alot with less at TCU. Imagine what he could do with our resources.

We won't get this information, but I'd be a little peeved if we didn't at least give Patterson an interview.

As much as I would like to see Patterson at the very least get an interview, his name isn't really being mentioned. We'll see how it plays out now that all the Gruden BS is done.

I don't get why his name isn't even being mentioned while guys like Golden, Fedora, and Mora Jr are all being mentioned.
If hart is interviewing coaches that are on that level and not even considering someone like Patterson we might as well kiss respectability good-bye and give a big warm welcome to the new UT/UK rivalry for the bottom of the SEC.

Already people switching from Gruden to Patterson. There will be plenty of these posts. Lol

I personally never said Gruden would be here. I always said I did not want him. I'm sure there will be plenty of posts but this is just my thoughts.

Whether Patterson comes or not he is my choice. You will not see any other posts from me saying that any other coach is coming to UT.

Playing well today vs Oklahoma with far inferior talent. The coaching in the Texas game was unreal. Wish we were hearing more about trying to buy this guy away from Big XII.

True enough. I would love to see what he could do with the same kind of talent that Oklahoma gets.
