Gary Patterson

Hamilton courted him in 09 brought him in for an interview and said you're too much like Fulmer. Who Patterson greatly respects. Then told him to kick rocks.

1 year later we call him up again and we were told it would take 6 million a year guaranteed for him to even pick up the phone.

This is what he has told the local media.

If it boils down to salary, then Chaney will be our next HC.

Patterson and Peterson are the two best coaches out there if we can get them. Peterson can recruit West Coast well. Patterson can recruit Texas & Soutwest well.

Strong looks good too plus I think he can recruit well in FL, Midwest.

It's more salary vs. actual accomplishments and experience. I think UT will pay for a proven winner, but they shouldn't pay big time money for a coach who isn't proven yet. If Strong's salary is higher than than his resume work, we should not hire him.

Not that facts matter all that much, b/c after all this is an internet message board, but he told that to a media member (and friend) in Texas. It was re-told on the Basilio show.:)

Strong is gonna be our next HC, no need to interview Patterson.

My question would be, why would you not call someone like Patterson before trying to hire Strong? Patterson has been a HC a lot longer and hands down has the better resume.

If TCU beats Oklahoma this afternoon, they will have finished 8-4 and beaten the two biggest schools in the Big 12. Not to mention he will have done this with MWC talent.

strong hasn't been a hc long enough imo...ut is a big job man.

Muschamp, Mullen, Richt, Miles, and Meyer disagree. All of these had been a hc 3 years or less. I know Strong has only been a HC for 2 years but that means little to nothing.

Cause his current contracted is reported to be in the 3.5 per yr range. He is bldg a legacy at tcu that he brought through the conference maze to the big 12 himself. FTW is a great place to live and it will take a lot more than UTs history, money and the SEC to make him up root his family that has been in FTW for a long time. Kiffin was chosen over him. He's in a major conference now. Maybe he'll be open to leaving in the future if/when he dominates the big 12, but no reason to now. Plenty of booster oil money in FTW so no need to say we can outbid anyone. And I can sit here and go on and on and on...

Seriously some people really need to look into things further before bringing stuff up. The OP has made himself look like a fool from the start of this thread. Every regular CFB fan knows that the big12 currently doesn't have an actual CCG at the moment. What upsets me is that there are sooooo many people like this in the fan base and they are the loud ones that make things worse than they should be and now look where we r at. It's like like letting the crazys run the asylum....smh.

For the record I'd like to get Patterson and not saying there is 0 chance but it's like a .000000000000000....1% chance. If hart pulls it off with a reasonable contract I'll be the first to say he is an unbelievable AD.

Sorry, I just watched Patterson call several plays that did not result in instant TD's,shows he is not qualified for UT.
Plus he is over weight and 'Fat Gary' or 'Gargantuan Gary' does not have the panache of VN's 'Phil' comments near the end of CPF's tenure. Where's the fun in that?

How about the chance to actually play in the NC game if he went undefeated or even with one loss. Instead of getting stiffed cause he is at TCU

This isn't UF man, a 10 year old child could win 9 games a year in UF....which is basically what they have right now. Hart said experience is a must!

This guy is about to lose a game. He must suck now. Take him off the list Hart!

Patterson is a very good coach and gave Okla all they wanted. I think we would be very fortunate to get him.

I'll say this. If we want to gauge the merits of each prospect, just put yourself in the shoes of Saban, Richt, Spurrier, and Muschamp. Which one would make those coaches say "Dammit!"....?

I think all of them would say that about Patterson (Tressel too). Fisher and Fedora wouldn't scare them any. Strong might raise an eyebrow.
