Gas Prices Pass Record

I guess I like that system. Why are you not defending that system? You prefer the government set prices and hand you your bread and water?

Its the govt's responsibility to set a level playing field for the consumer. Right now its not level.

All kidding aside . . . What exactly would you have the government do to "level the playing field"?

Right. So everyone knows they are driving prices up to make more money so why is everyone defending them? We know what they are doing.

wouldn't this be considered a monoply and shouldn't the government step in. i remember in the mid 80's they stepped in against libby owens ford glass and said they were a monoply and now they are nearly bankrupt. this is 1000 times worse.:good!:

I would be willing to listen to anyone who wanted to put forth an argument for nationalizing oil companies.

I'm not saying I agree, but I'm ready to listen.

Free markets don't work very well when the consumer has no choice. Look at healthcare, doctors can charge what they want because people have to have medical care. Its not a good model for free enterprise.

Again with all you people complaining how bad it is. List me the things you have cut out because you can't afford gas? Cable, eating out, movies, whatever? You are complaining because your discretionary income has been cut into. wah wah. Get smart find a way around it. I doubt there are more than 2 or 3 people , if any on VN, that spend more on gas than me in a week. Find a way around it.

They probably make less % net profit than the company you work for. The facts of gas price levels have been pointed out and cited several times in these forums and you choose to ignore the facts. I contend that you don't know anything about what they are doing and choose to argue from a position of ignorance.

i have cut out quite a bit. i basically try to do all my running in one trip. i cancelled our family vacation this summer. i also have my house on the market because it is a long drive to do anything out here in the country. it isn't going to get any better with these losers running our country. so i figure the american dream is dead might as well move back to phoenix and hang out with the illegals.

there's the solution. get the government involved. given their penchant for losing, I would expect Big Oil profits to swing negative shortly thereafter.

Yea, American dream is dead because your gas went up 1 dollar a gallon. $100-$200 a month for the average family I would guess. If that cost you the American dream, well...

you forgot the part about the illegals, just imagine if there plot on fort dix was a success. yes most of them were in the country illegally because of our great government especially john mccain. hell gas would have probably went past 7 bucks a gallon.

You cannot seriously be calling the healthcare arena a free market. Gov't regulation has made the place a disaster, but has made many a consultant rich in the process.

I think the govt needs to come in and establish costs, if your a specialist you make xxx dollars, a family practioner xxx dollars, etc. Same for the oil industry. I think this would be a better then what we have now. If this means some form of nationlizing them, I'm willing to listen.

might as well be. pretty soon unless your rich you won't be able to get healthcare, but to listen to allvol, it is all good.

preach it brother.

Yes the government has proven how well it can run businesses. You seen how the USPS runs? Great call.

Its one thing to add meaningful dialogue and new ideas to further a discussion and another to simply insult people you don't agree with. I still haven't read where you have contributed anything to the discussion. Otherwise I see no reason to even respond to you anymore.

Yes, people are practically dying in the streets these days. So poor, sitting at home eating their cheeseburgers and watching cable all night. If only they had the freedom to spend their money how they wanted.

Oklavol and champy, better cancel those internet connections you are using, gas is a risin!! Gonna need that money.

go just a mile or so north of neyland and tell the homeless people how you feel. i'm sure they would agree with you.

Get them to nationalize the dairy industry while you are at it. Man ice cream is expensive. By the time I drive to the store buy my ice cream and the gas it took me to get there, probably spent $50.
