Gatlinburg Being Evacuated

1980 -2016

Gatlinburg’s Mysterious Mansion is now closed due to the devastating wildfires in Gatlinburg. Thank-you everyone for an amazing 36 years

I've been streaming WATE here in West Tennessee all morning; seeing some Twitter news that over 400 damaged structures and about half of Gatlinburg proper has been affected. I lived in Knoxville for several years, and have very happy memories from time spent hiking and camping in the mountains. Sad to hear all of this. But Tennessee is already proving why we are called the Volunteer State through aid relief and outreach.

2.5 miles from Sigsaurp228 house

I only know a couple road names in that area.

Are you close to Buckhorn Rd ?

Did that area get hit by fire ? There are alot of art studios in that area.

I always go that way to pigeon forge to stay out of Gatlinburg traffic when staying in cosby.

I coach travel soccer and as of an hour ago our tournament at Rocky Top Sports World is still on for this weekend but I don't see how. It's a command post filled with fire trucks right now.

I'd love for it to get cancelled and still go up there to help. Anybody know if they might be accepting volunteer work up there this weekend?

Does anyone know how Cades Cove fared? I know there are not many structures or people (hopefully) at risk but I would hate for it to be damaged.

First responder here. It was tough to tell last night, the extent of the damages. All power out and smoke was covering everything. I couldn't see 20 yards in front of me. It's bad, but I don't think it's quite the devastation as initially expected. Most roads were blocked into early this morning by power lines or trees, so I think later this afternoon we will know full extent of damages to homes and cabins in the mountains.

They really should have all roads blocked leading in to gatlinburg. Just seen a WBIR reporter doing a facebook live report on channel 10 and this building is gone and you can hear the gas line blowing.

First time my husband took me to Gatlinburg we ate at the Alamo Steakhouse. It is very sad to see these pictures. Prayers to everyone there.

SIAP - this video is absolutely harrowing. Can't imagine having to do this. Video ends before they get out but they get out.

This is tragic it looks like there will be fatalities

@wbir did a live video on facebook on a BURNT BODY! I was watching the live video & saw it. They deleted the video.
@danileigh_93 We apologize for this. The moment our reporter realized what was going on, the video was pulled from our system.

I'm sure there will be quite a few. Anyone that's ever tried driving in that area knows how hard it can be to get around in spots because of traffic flow.

This guy is chief of staff to Chattanooga's mayor!

I remember when #Gatlinburg #TN used to have snow instead of fires. Tell your Reps to #ActOnClimate; don't put Trump's science deniers @EPA!
