Gators #4 and Get UK Again!!!!

They were down 13 at half.

Great point. 13 was their biggest deficit of the season, and they ended up winning by 9.

They also had sphincter puckerers against UNC, at IU, at Tennessee, Alabama, at Vandy and at Florida before putting them both away in the last few minutes.

I would say that they are more than ready to deal with adversity.

florida is reeling.....BAD!

they need to get their ish together quickly.

i could see them losing first round, or going sweet 16, hard to predict that team. im curious to see how they play in sec t.
The only game in which we played really badly was the loss to Georgia. We played decently against Vandy and Kentucky. We didn't defend well enough to beat Vandy, however. And, we just didn't hit enough open shots against Kentucky. Again, if Young plays like he did today, we'll beat most teams in the country. Just not Kentucky.

you guys didnt play well against us in either game.

if young will bring that every night you all are a much better team. that has been the issue though, he hasnt done that consistently and florida has lacked that toughness.

as i said, im curious to see which team shows up.

I have to agree. Plus Darius Miller is the senior to calm the freshman down in those nail biters. Something that wasn't there will with Wall and Co.

patterson and stevenson were there...

im curious to see how these teams play with no senior leadership starting next year.

I thought you were referring to recent games. But, yeah, those two games were pretty bad (well, not for most on this board :p). I think Young will show up for the tournament, though. He basically dominated Davis for the majority of the game. Too bad the rest of the team didn't play all that well.

i dont know about dominated davis.

davis still had a great game on both ends of the floor.

i would say davis outplayed young, when you consider offense and defense actually.

Stevenson was by no means a go to guy. Patterson yes, but the freshman seem to gravitate toward Miller a lot more than those guys did to Patterson.

Which is somewhat crazy since Patterson was All SEC, if I remember correctly (which could be wrong). I get it though, they do seem to take Miller's presence into account.

I take it as these freshman buying into the team aspect and niot just looking out for number one. I can definitely see that difference between those two teams.

For the majority of the game, I thought Young outplayed Davis. Davis had a run late in the game that elevated his stats, but I thought Young had a better game. The problem was that none of our guards showed up.

Yeah, I totally see this. Wall and Cousins were not your most team oriented players, and trying to get them to mesh with (much less value the input of) a player like Patterson would be a tall order. They played really well, and had disgustingly talented athletes, but an unselfish team they were not.

that seems to be their issue right now.

the post plays good, and the guards dont show.

the guards play well, and the post plays soft.

thats why i say, i could see them being a 1st round upset, or making an elite 8 or so.

as i said, im very curious starting next year how these teams play with no senior leaders.

1st year they had stevenson and patterson
2nd year they had liggins, harrelson and miller
3rd year they have miller

i think the seniors dont receive enough credit for how well these UK teams have played.

I forgot the game is only 32 minutes and not 40. /sarcasm. 22-12-whatever blocks > 21-9

We got Jon Hood and Twany Beckham as seniors next year! :eek:lol:

The '09 team just underachieved. Remember that Patterson was only playing in his 4th NCAA game against WVU...and he was a Junior, not a Senior.

Seniors in '09 were Stevenson, Harris, and Krebs- not exactly go-to guys.

I'm not denying Davis had better stats. Young could get whatever he wanted when he was one-on-one with Davis, which really was what I meant when I said Young outplayed Davis.

and young got what he wanted when he was one on one with young, whether it was yound getting lost or not.

how many young shots got blocked by davis? and vice versa?

I don't recall Davis blocking Young. I remember Jones blocking Young once, and Davis blocking a bunch of shots from Boynton, Beal, Walker, and Murphy. Idk though.

i though i remember young eating one real bad, but maybe not.

in any regard, i dont think its fair to say that young outplayed davis. simply looking at the number shows thats not the case.

Totally disagree.

Davis is just as good defensively as Durant was offensively and Davis better offensively than Durant was defensively.

I love Durant, but you got to take Davis.

I agree. Davis is one of the rare ones that can do it all and plays unselfish team basketball. Once he adds a little weight and muscle I could easily see him becoming one of the legends of the game.
