No it's not. That franschise was garbage for 20 years before he showed up and he took them on a great run. Even though Peyton Manning plays for the biggest rival of my favorite NFL team, I'll always appreciate what he did here in Knoxville, and there would be no conceivable way that I would boo a UT legend like that.

I have nothing against the Packers team, there's actually a lot of likeable players, and Aaron Rodgers is a great QB, I just don't think those horrible fans deserve a team like that.

1. I'm not a Southern Miss fan.
2. For 3 years, Brett Favre has played for a team that doesn't don the Green and Gold.
3. There is a time to show appreciation to Brett Favre. Just about ever Packer fan does appreciate him. You don't show that when he takes the field for an opponent.
4. For the 17 years that Brett wore the G, he won as many road playoff games as Aaron Rodgers.
5. Brett Favre was not the sole reason we were good. We had one of the best defenses in the country.
6. You cannot cheer for the opposing team's starting quarterback, especially if he plays for your 2nd biggest rival.

7. That was just for fun. Perhaps you should leave the big games to the teams that can actually win it. Now go back to cheering for your Oilers.
8. Go Pack Go.

I really don't even want to bring up how the Oilers fanbase treated Eddie George by the end of his time in Nashville, and he single-handedly carried that team for about 6-8 years.

I'll give the edge to Pittsburgh in this one. Rodgers will be harassed quite often and we saw how he liked it yesterday. Blitzburg by two touchdowns.

Different situation. Manning never ditched your team for their rival. He has always been there. Let's put the Favre situation in a fantasy UT situation. Favre plays for UT, wins an SEC and national title and transfers just in time to do the same for Alabama or Florida. How do you view him now? Don't get me wrong, Brett Favre was my favorite player growing up. I still have a Favre Green Bay jersey, but there was no way I would give him a warm reception while wearing a Vikings uniform.

I have a signed Favre trading card, a Favre mug used to hold pencils, and a Favre bobblehead. The day he's a Packer again, they will come back out of hibernation. He is currently a Viking, therefore he is the enemy.

By unveiling a giant banner on the side of their stadium?

The Packers seem to be on a roll for the past month or so. If this continues, I look for them to win it.

Can you remind me when Favre ditched the Packers? As I recall he was forced out by the front office even though he still wanted to play football. It's tough to say management did the wrong thing though, they knew Rodgers was going to be great and needed to take the necessary steps to keep him. All I'm saying is that at some point a player should have built up enough equity with the fanbase such that they should be above the pathetic reception he received when he returned to Lambeau last year. He played a key role in winning that franchise it's first title in 30 years, and it's stupid to overlook his 17 years of greatness just because of the way things ended.

They didn't have to even give him a warm reception, just not act like total a******* when he returned. It's not anyone's place to say he can't continue to play just because Green Bay wanted to move on.

Because he got booed....because he was the Vikings QB? Heck, half the crowd did cheer for him.

Also, upon his exit you might recall that he retired in the spring then showed up about the start of training camp after the team spent all summer planning around Rodgers. You may not want to put his exit entirely on Packers management.

I'm just glad it's not a Packers-Jets Super Bowl. Can you imagine 2 straight weeks of nothing but Brett Favre talk?? Oh wait, that would be similar to the summers of '08, '09, and '10.

What's done is done. He's a HOF'er regardless of who likes/dislikes him.

I am curious to see how long it takes for the Packers to reitre #4 though if he really is done. From both sides, I wonder if it will happen while Thompson is around.

If he isn't playing football next year, I wouldn't be shocked if it's retired at a home NFC North game near the end of the season. If they can't get it all set for then, then it'll be the either the first game of the '12 season, or the earliest NFC North game of that season

I didn't realize the fans did that. Man, talk about pushover stadium management.

Wasn't the fans, but it's not like he was lacking in popularity even when he started sucking. Still lives in Nashville and people still love him there...
