He's cheated and will never be the coach that Coach Summit is and was. She called him on it and that's why the series died!

:eek:k:

Tennesseeduke

Exactly, which is why Coach Summit never went to press with it.....because she felt it would hurt Women's College Basketball....A black eye...so she held back regarding Geno....

It's a point which I can't truly substantiate, especially since Tennessee made the Elite 8.This is pure speculation on my part but, over the last four years, I'd say that Tennessee's true "head coaching" duties began shifting from Pat to Holly, obviously the case in the 2011-2012 season. Tennessee really underperformed after the back-to-back titles. Underperforming is all relative since most schools would be thrilled with what they accomplished, but I at least expected a Final Four appearance. This, completely a shot in the dark here on my part, goes against Holly.

Also, Holly's a little older than Caldwell and Mitchell. Not that this takes away from her coaching abilities, but it makes her less appealing because I'd want to have someone who can be around for the long haul and, unfortunately, it's harder to do that when you're 55 as opposed to 40/42. Age doesn't matter much in the men's game because there's a wealth of Tier 1 tallent but, for the women, it's basically just Geno/Tara/Kim/Muffet leading the pack at this point.

as been around a long time herself. I like her but we probably need some fresh blood and fresh thinking, unless she and the team really show something next year.

And let's not kid ourselves. Making the Elite Eight was not much of an accomplishment. Seriously: We got two games at home against teams that were serious underdogs, with far less talent, then we played Oklahoma in the sweet 16--certainly a respectable program but a team that had lost at least two starters and maybe three to injuries. Not a great team by any stretch. Then we played Louisville, which had considerably less talent than we did but a lot more courage. So we didn't do much at all--and in fact we should have rolled into the Final Four with no trouble. And we were practically given an easy trip to the title game. Had we beaten Louisville, we would have played another overachieving underdog in California.

Geno gets a lot of number one players he has the number one in the 2012 class and the 2011 class on the team now. He is in great shape to get the 2014 number one players and possibly the number two. The only year we got the number one was 2013 Mercedes. He also gets the meanest girls he can find that don't mind punching your lights out for no reason. They are intense and aggressive and just wear you down so you make mistakes on your own. Tennessee gets a lot of girls that are very good players but are also nice people and very sweet to opponents on the court. We didn't seem to mind Louisville getting easy layups we didn't try to punish anyone for bringing the ball in there or making them think twice about doing it again. Players are a reflection of their coach and we all know how mean and vulgar Geno is and his girls have the same mindset.

You made the best post. If I wanted sweet pretty little choir girls I would go to church. I don't care if I have a great Satan coaching us like Geno - it's all about the wins. Look at the miserable human beings that win titles - Geno, Saban, Meyer, Pitino. They are complete turds, but bad guys finish first.
Character doesn't stack trophy cases.

The town itself sucks compared to Knoxville, but you're within two hours of New York and Boston. Plus, in recent years, UConn has been superior.

Whomever said that Holly is second-tier, I agree with you. Taking this team to the Elite 8 impressed me a lot, but I don't understand why the gig wasn't given to Mitchell or Caldwell. To a lot of recruits, Tennessee is going to start looking less appealing than Duke, Maryland, Kentucky and Notre Dame if the Lady Vols don't start making some Final Fours.

If Holly can't win at least one title with Mercedes, she needs to be fired. No excuses - this is Tennessee. She-it or get off the pot.

Didn't he make comments about her personally as well?

Making comments about a woman who is the reason he's paid a lot in the first place - how pathetic. He's a great coach, but he is a sad little man who will always be remembered as a "women's coach", not just a coach.
Grow a pair and go to the men's game, Geno.

We all know he cheated and he's done it very well. History will remember him as a great coach and leader and all those titles they want include the cheating etc.
Sounds like you are a person who knows what Geno did to cheat. I've always wanted to know, but no one seems to be able to come up with any info. Can you inform us?

I cannot stand Geno. However, he will be known very soon as the best female basketball coach of all time. Yes, Pat got the program started and built it for what it is today. Geno is the best coach and should be in the men's program. Pat was the best in her day. That has been a few years ago. Blast me if you want , but sometimes the truth hurts. Holly Warlick will never do what Pat Head Summit did. In my opinion Holly is a second tier coach. Time will prove me right.

A tool called me a sexist for the same remark :ermm:

Because Pat tabbed CHW as the next coach. It's who SHE wanted

UConn Lady Huskies will be #1 pre-season for 2013/14. They could win it all again in 2014 with the freshman they have in Stewart.

I think Geno and Pat have made up. It is what it is. I am excited we have some top talent coming to Knoxville next season. We can prevent Geno from winning #10. GLV!!

That can't be it. A staff member stupidly dialed the ESPN phone # and handed the phone to Moore. It's a secondary violation, no big deal. Anybody can get an ESPN tour and besides, uconn self reported it. Pat too has had this kind of violation.

We'll see what documentation Volfan2012 can provide. It's got to be more than that.

The poster has nothing or UConn would be on probation right now -- they arent as immune as Alabama football and Kentucky basketball.

More than one person has claim that Pat Summitt "built women's basketball" , "she began it all", "Pat got the program started".

Don't get me wrong, when the history of women's basketball is written, Pat will get an enormous section, well-deserved, but those words won't be used. She deserves credit for elevating the game, but it sounds like some people think she invented it. This is an insult to people like Clara Baer, who organized the first basketball game in the south in an all-male athletic club, of all places. There actually was basketball before Pat Summitt. How many people even know who Clara Baer is, or could tell me anything about her?

I want be starting any conversations with the trolls on here but to me UConn will always be known as handbag U.

Sooo where was the NCAA if this is such an open and closed case? Or did Geno have the Mafia take care of it, because he's a paisan and all?
