It's a point which I can't truly substantiate, especially since Tennessee made the Elite 8.This is pure speculation on my part but, over the last four years, I'd say that Tennessee's true "head coaching" duties began shifting from Pat to Holly, obviously the case in the 2011-2012 season. Tennessee really underperformed after the back-to-back titles. Underperforming is all relative since most schools would be thrilled with what they accomplished, but I at least expected a Final Four appearance. This, completely a shot in the dark here on my part, goes against Holly.
Also, Holly's a little older than Caldwell and Mitchell. Not that this takes away from her coaching abilities, but it makes her less appealing because I'd want to have someone who can be around for the long haul and, unfortunately, it's harder to do that when you're 55 as opposed to 40/42. Age doesn't matter much in the men's game because there's a wealth of Tier 1 tallent but, for the women, it's basically just Geno/Tara/Kim/Muffet leading the pack at this point.
